Don't feel guilty at all!!!! I am not sending my son either... I instead am taking him to library programs and doing stuff I can afford... It isn't going to hurt him at all... I know others who also aren't sending their kids because they don't want to or don't have the money for it..

Check through your school district. Some offer free preschool. Bay shore offers free preschool 5 days a week for 2.5hrs a day.

Re: if you are NOT sending your 3 year old to preschool....

i could have written your post...esp since i sent my now 5 yr old to nursery at 3 and pre-k at 4..

my 3.5 yr old missed the free pre-k age at our district and we decided it wasnt in out budget to pay all that money for a 2 day program at the catholic school!

But to make myself feel better i signed him up for gymnastics and we will be doing swimming so he will be doing something 1-2 days a week when his sister is at school!

I will also be looking into our library as well!

So believe me you are not the only one!

there are free trial classes at a lot of the kid places. Gymboree does it and so does Little Gym I think. Where do you live? Lots of play groups going on with the nice weather. I did soccer in the spring with DS. ProSoccer Kids.

They only need socialization and to be away from you, so they don't get too attached when school starts. Separation might be hard the longer you wait.

I have a 2 yo, I was going keep him home. There are no 2 yo around to play with bc they are all in school Chat Icon I caved and enrolled him. I was thinking of doing activities w him, but that adds up too. I have 2 kids in nurserybChat Icon Try looking into a church program, may be a good price?

Don't feel guilty at all! It's more work for you , but your dc will be happy no matter what the activity

turn it around...i love my 3 year old so much and he is only 3 once that i want to spend our days together.

seriously, mine is 5.5 and doing freaking great in kindergarten. no preschool. cold turkey. marched into school solo on the first day and doing awesome. teacher said he is a complete joy, so kind and nice.
i always did "homework" with him. even if it is just books from the dollar store. I was able to score the workbooks that our county kindergarten used, and all year long with did those.
As far as socializing...bring your kid to a park and tell him to go make a friend. For that reason, i feel like my kid can get along with anyone.
I always had him in playgroups and library classes.
at 4, he was in tball, soccer, spanish, and art. i did not have money or time to also do preschool.
I completely felt like I could teach him more in a one on one setting then a preschool teacher with 12 different personalities to deal with.
good luck! they are babies and have their whole lives to sit in a classroom.

I was just doing the math and we will not be sending the twins until they are 3 1/2 or so. I work so a babysitter is just more economical for us with 3 little ones. Don't beat yourself up! There is plenty you can do with her at home. You are lucky you have to opportunity to be a sahm with her while she is young!Chat Icon Chat Icon
