Weaning Bottle/Cup Questions
Hi ladies, My DS is 10 months today and EBF. I am a teacher and while I worked last year I pumped and he took bottles of pumped breast milk. I'm returning this week for August Development. For the next month, I plan on doing the same pumping and giving bottles, but starting at 11 months, I was going to begin weaning. I am fine BFing at night still, but I would like to wean from pumping. So, I was going to do mixtures of milk and breast milk slowly until he was on all milk by his 12 month bday. Would you still give these mixtures in a bottle? Or a cup? Or wait till all milk in the cup? He does use a cup now, and honestly hasn't had a bottle in two months, but he was always faster with the bottle. I'm very confused, I don't want him on the bottle too long, but I don't want him to not get any breast milk or milk because he didn't do that well with the cup. KWIM TIA!!!!

Weaning Bottle/Cup Questions
honestly I'd wait for the cup to do milk. DS only liked it in the bottle and won't drink milk from a cup since we took the bottle away. but everyone kid is different.

OK so give bottles with mixture? Then cup with just milk?

Re: Weaning Bottle/Cup Questions
If he hasn't had a bottle in 2 months I'd just try the cup. No reason to reintroduce a bottle if he already drinks from a cup. If he's not taking it from a cup, then try the bottle, but I wouldn't go bottle first - just seems easier to me.

That makes sense, but my concern is he doesn't sit down and drink a full cup. He only takes sips as he needs, but since it's breast milk I want him to drink it all. Ugh! I just texted my friend who watches him for her preference and we'll see what she says. Thanks!

My DD only sips from a cup if it's water, but she CHUGS it if it's milk. It can't hurt to try it once, you can always dump it in a bottle if he doesn't take it.
