Its your decision but I wouldnt put my baby girl through any pain for just looks. She may choose to not want them. If she wants them when she gets older then well do it. My mom asked me and I chose to do it when I was about 8.
This is how I feel as well. I cry when she gets shots. I can't imagine standing there as they pierce her ears. I never had my ears piereced. And i don't regret it at all. I never wanted earrings to this day. So I will let her make that call when she is older.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
I don't think I've ever met a person that said they regret their parents having their ears pierced With that said, I did choose to wait until my DD asked for them to be pierced, which was age 3.

I agree, I think it's cruel and doesn't look cute IMO. I got my ears pierced when I started kindy bc I asked. I remember it very clearly

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
I think it's cute but I feel bad when they get vaccines. I couldn't pierce the girls ears as babies. When they want to have them pierced I'll take them.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
I would do it. I have horrible memories of my mom having the ped do it when I was a little older... it was awful and terribly painful. If we have a girl, I will bring them to our family jeweler, as my sister did with her girls at about 6 months. I don't know many, if any, girls who don't and wouldn't want their ears pierced.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
dd is 4 months and DH doesn't want them done until she is older. I was on the fence but since he has such a strong opinion about it, it sways me to the not pierce camp. Besides, I am cringing at the thought of her getting her 4 month shots on monday so I know I will feel so bad if we did her ears and she seemed to be in any pain.

I am not a fan of babies with earrings. That being said, I have 2 DD's. Waiting until they ask for pierced ears.

To pierce or not to pierce
I am not sure what I would do if I have a DD. i don't always like how they look on babies but I had mine done when I was in first grade and it was a traumatizing experience for me. That would make me lean towards getting it done as a baby but it really is a personal decision.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
I was so excited to do it and we pierced DD's ears at 4 months. Unfortunately, my DD was an ear-rubber, and would CONSTANTLY lose her earrings. Hoops, posts, it didn't matter what kind, and changing the backs didn't help either. I let them close up at 15 months and to be honest I don't really miss them on her. If she wants them when she is older I will take her. I am not having more kids but if I did I wouldn't pierce her ears.

To pierce or not to pierce
If I ever had a daughter, I would. I had mine pierced when I was a baby and I'm so thankful that I don't remember because I am a wuss when it comes to any sort of needle.

To pierce or not to pierce
We didn't pierce them as a baby. We decided to wait until she asks for it herself. DD will say that she wants them but I still think she is too young (3yrs old). I know if we take her she'll never let them do the other ear.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
I didn't do DD's ears, I want her to decide to do it one day if it's something she wants to do. I also don't want to expose her to a potential infection and I'm way too lazy to do all of the maintenance that comes with fresh pierced ears

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
id def do it before she turns 1...i did DD ears right after she turned 1, she was walking and and it was a horrible experience my doctors office did the piercing, the nurses had to hold her down what a nightmare! id do it right away if you can since shes 7 months and wont even know whats going on or remember anything. if i could turn back time, i would have done it for DD at 3 months right after her 1st set of vaccines. good luck!

I don't have a dd but I would not do it until they were old enough to not eat one that came loose. I would be paranoid about that.

I'm not, b/c they're DD's ears. She can have earrings whenever she wants, but I want it to be her call.

To pierce or not to pierce
we did it at 7m at our pediatrician. they used sterile hypoallergenic plastic earrings, they were actually very cute and we never had to alcohol them or turn the back.
we did it so early because when i was in kindergarten every single girl had their ears pierced but me. i asked my mom, and we did it, but then i constantly touched them and they eventually fell out and closed up and i eventually had to get it re-pierced.. honestly even as a kid it sucked not having my ears pierced, so i wanted to make sure Em has hers done early, before she would ever know the difference. she's 14m and has never really touched them at all, and she pulls her ears ALL the time. also a few times we have lost the earring or back (always recovered it) and the hole did not close up at all. we went a day or two before finding an earring with a better back and the hole didnt even remotely close up. she doesnt love having the earrings changed but we only did it when we had too so far and have had absolutely no issues.

Re: To pierce or not to pierce
From experience pierce now. I let my pediatrician talk me out of it. My daughter at 5 almost 6 requested that we pierce her ears, here we are at 7 and have had to pierce her ears on 3 separate occasions. We keep having to take them out for dance, school or soccer so they keep closing. Pierce now while you don't have these problems, trust me!
