What do you do for exercise?

Pre-pregnancy I was a pretty big runner, but I've had to stop bc my heart rate gets way too high when I run, even when I try to go slow.

I've now become the laziest pregnant person ever. I tried the elliptical, but I just got too bored. I'm thinking of signing up for a prenatal yoga class, but I feel like I need to do some cardio as well. So, I'm curious about what everyone else is doing.

I was taking step aerobincs before my BFP. I haven't been in the gym in almost 7 weeks. I feel too tired and sluggish to go. I started doing Prenatal Yoga & Pilates at home. They're really good dvd's to try. I want to start walking in the evening. Taking the dogs on long 30 minute walks will be my exercise.

Re: What do you do for exercise?

I was also a runner. I tried running slower (im a slow runner as it was) but I would just get to winded after the 4th month.

Now I walk a lot. I try to walk about 2 miles in the a.m.'s like 3x/week and on the weekend I'll walk about 4 miles either Sat or Sun. And I still do weights. I work my upper body with free weights and do lunges and squats and dead lifts for lower.

I made DH move our elliptical into our guest room so it's in front of the TV and I can catch up on my DVR'd television or pop in a DVD. The elliptical is beyond boring if you don't have something to do to entertain yourself while you're on it.

Other than that, just basic stuff like squats, lunges, light free weights...

Swimming. besides that everything else is too hard, even walking. And I also was big into exercising up until I got pregnant. I was doing 30 min to 1 hour of exercise 6 days a week. I was running 5K's on the treadmill and doing pilates and strengthening/toning DVDs. I was hiking and rock climbing. Now... I sleep and consider that exercise!! But swimming is good. I kick my legs in the water. go from one side of the pool to the other at my own pace and tread water.

I walk a lot. I take the dog for about 8 walks a day. We get hot and tired quickly so we cut it up into smaller walks.

Up until Tuesday (25.5 weeks) I was running, but the pressure is getting to be uncomfortable, so now I am walking instead.

I walk from the den or office to the kitchen. Does that count? It's a split. Chat Icon

I was banned from working out until recently, but I just orderd a pregnancy pilates video to try. Photoshoots are pretty physical though and I do a few a weekend for now.

Re: What do you do for exercise?

I still try and get to zumba 2x a week. I have a lot of round ligament pain which kills me when I walk, so I can't really do the treadmill or elliptical. There are a few moves I have to modify for zumba, but I can keep up for the most part. Im 24 weeks now - not too sure how much longer I will be able to keep it up!

Re: What do you do for exercise?

the only exercise i've been doing is walking, i work in manhattan so there is alot of walking to and from the train station and during lunch. But since the weather has been so hot and humid i havent gone out during lunch and i've been avoiding the subway stairs. I got so exhausted walking up the stairs last week i had to take a break when i got to the top!

I was walking for 30 min as many days as I could but now that it's summer I've been swimming for 30 min a day. I used to work out a lot before becoming pregnant too so I wanted to try to stay in some sort of a routine without overdoing it. Swimming seems to be perfect for pregnancy.

Re: What do you do for exercise?

I was a big runner too, but had to stop practically as soon as I found out I was PG because I was bleeding and we had to figure out why. Even though I've been off pelvic rest for about 4 weeks now, I'm still struggling to get back to any sort of consistent workout schedule, it totally stinks. I try to walk, with a few minutes of easy running, a couple times a week and I try to throw in some light weight training at least once a week, but I know that's still not enough. I guess it's better than nothing, but compared to how active I was, I feel like I am super lazy!

However, this post has inspired me to get off the PC and get my butt out the door! Chat Icon

Re: What do you do for exercise?

When I was pregnant I continued running, but I did 5 min running and then 5 min walking and so on until the end of the workout. Maybe you could try that? This way your heart rate is not elevated for the whole workout.

Nothing, unfortunately. I am on my feet all day in a retail environment and I just don't have the energy at the end of the day to do anything. My back, feet and legs hurt so all I do is go home and crash
