DWI wrong-way driver on Northern
What is wrong with people!?!??!

A West Hempstead man was drunk and driving the wrong way for about 14 miles on the Northern State Parkway on Sunday when he caused two one-car crashes, State Police said.
Raymond Hulsman, 35, drove a white Chevrolet Malibu eastbound in the westbound lane from Exit 31, Glen Cove Road, in East Hills, to Exit 40, Route 110, in Melville -- about 14 miles -- police said Monday in a news release.
Troopers were dispatched to the call at 5:12 a.m., police said.
Two drivers had accidents, hitting the center concrete median, as they avoided crashing into Hulsman, police said, including one who was treated for back pain at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola.
Hulsman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and produced breath-analyzer reading of .15 percent, police said.
He also was charged with reckless endangerment and several traffic violations, police said.
Hulsman's arraignment information was not immediately available.
On Monday night, Southold Town Police said a wrong-way driver from Orient also was arrested on a drunken-driving charge.
Alexis Griffin, 28, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius the wrong way on North Street in Greenport when she was arrested at about 11:12 p.m., according to a police report.
Her arraignment information was not immediately available.

Dear GOD. That's a LONG way to drive the wrong way on the NORTHERN state with it's turns....OMG. Thank GOD no one was killed but this man deserves a HARSH punishment.

14 Miles? How come no one stopped him sooner? I feel like that is a really long way to be able to go before being pulled over/stopped. I am glad that no one was hurt. He should be locked away.

It just baffles me that people continue to get behind the wheel jacked up. What a$$holes. I could care less if they die, but taking the chance of killing or maiming others

DH and I saw someone driving the wrong way on the service road on Tuesday night-at 7PM!!!! We sat at the red light like this...
Thank god he didn't kill anyone

My BF and I saw a wrong way driver on Old Country Road at 8 am on a weekday. I think she made a left turn going westbound from the right turn only east bound exit. She was stuck and couldn't turn around, so she kept going until she could.
14 miles is a REALLY long time to go the wrong way. I guess since it was so early there weren't a lot of cars on the road, but SOMEONE would've had to have seen the car and call 911...

it was xmas eve - I bet there were very few cars on the road.
We drove from Huntington to NHP on xmas eve night and I was very nervous about the other cars, I just felt like there was going to be a drunk driver.
I did it again today and I saw no less than 6 police cars on Northern State. Not sure if it was related or if it's just the end of the month.
