I don't care for it. I find that I would rather them scan everything at the checkout and I can pack with regular (or reuseable bags) vs. spending time packing based on each item.

I loooove Scan It! I think it's the best invention ever. I have a whole system lol What I hate are the people who use the Scan It registers to scan a cart full of things...SO not what they're there for. Use the self check out! But I rarely go when it's busy anyway, so that's just me being picky lol

They conduct random audits where they will scan a few items in your bag to ensure they were scanned. It has only happened to me twice.
Another benefit from it is that you see a running total of what you are spending.
Yes, you are stopping each time to bag but you are able to bag it how you like so when it comes in the house, its already together (fridge stuff, freezer stuff, etc..)

I love them too and will only shop in S&S that have them. It makes check-out so much easier and quicker. I get so upset when I go shopping and there aren't any scanners available!

I love it!! I always get coupons for Chobani yogurt on my scanner since I buy it all the time.
I like seeing how much my total is. I like being able to pack my bags as I go.

I can't go with my kids though..they want to scan everything...e ven if we aren't buying it

I believe they stop people randomly to check. Personally, I've never been checked.
Ive been checked about 4 times in a row now. When you go to check out and scan your scanner it will tell the chashier if you are to be audited. Then someone comes and scans 10 items i believe to make sure they all came up as scanned by you. Not a big deal. Takes 2 seconds.

Me too ! I love it! I cant imagine food shopping without one now. I use everytime- big or small trip.

LOOOOOOVE being able to scan and pack as I go. SO easy!! Anytime I can do things myself I'm happy because I would much rather scan and bag my own items then stand there waiting for the moron cashier to ring me through and the 400 yr old man who is slow as molasses bagging my canned food on top of my bread. LOVE scanning myself! WAY better!

I only shop at S&S now because of these scanners! And if I go there and there are none ready on the charger kiosk, I go into panic mode! 
I seriously LOVE shopping with them. If I have $140 to spend on groceries then I can keep track of what I am spending and I don't have to worry about having enough when I get to the checkout.
Also you can go on ANY line with a scan it...even the express line! Even if you have $200 worth of groceries. The manager pulled me off of a regular line once and told me to go to express. He said even though express is for a few items, you only scan one barcode with a scan-it order so it is considered under 15 items and so it is fine.
I also get back 5c on every reusable bag that I use, and I usually use between 8-10 on a weekly grocery order...and I like that I'm not using plastic bags!

You weigh your produce on a scale right there in the aisle- they have a few.
You put the bananas lets say on the scale- then chose bananas from the menui of produce. It will weigh and total it for you- then you hit print ticket
A sticker will print out with the item name, amount and total- and a barcode.
You scan that barcode with your scan it, it adds it to your order, place the sticker on the bananas and bag them.
Easy breezy!

You can also keep the produce on the side and have them ring it for you. It just prevents you from using the express lane which I find to be a huge benefit.

Thanks! I am going to check this out this weekend.
I usually go shopping at odd hours anyways so hopefully there will be one available.
How does this work with coupons? Do you scan them in or give them to the cashier?

Either give them to the cashier if you're on a manned lane, or put them in yourself on the self-checkout register after you transfer the order from the scanner to it.

how about the stop and shop in oceanside on Atlantic? Or the one in Farmingdale, just off 109? (the new HUGE one) do they have the guns? I've never seen this

yes. the one on motor parkway in farmingdale has them at both entrances on your lefthand side :)
