Rude Awakening (Vent)
Went to the Dr yesterday and have already gained 35lbs in the 29th week. Thinking is wasn't AWFUL I went to the dr (first time without DH) and they told me it totally wasn't. Asked me what I was eating and if I had gym access. I"m originally 5'8 and fluxuate btwn 150-160 I'm no skinny mini, I'm well proportioned. I expected to gain weight but they're making me feel awful exact words..."we don't want you to have a big moose of a baby" bc hes measuring at 3.3 I was 11lbs when I was born DH was almost 10. I'm sure there is some stuff I can avoid and I will but now I'm just crushed. Just really having a rough day
Thanks for listening

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
I hear you... I am also 5'8" and a steady 150. With DS, I gained 45, for a total of 195! Baby was fine though- just under 9 lbs. And I lost all of the weight within a year. This time, I have already gained 22 lbs as of 25 weeks. I was hoping to gain less weight, but at this point, I guess I will probably be at 45 lbs by the end! I eat well and exercise, so I figure this is just what my body does when pregnant!
Sucks, but try not to stress it.

every woman's body is different - unless you're eating cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner, maybe that's just how your body works during pregnancy! Don't get yourself down.

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
EFF THEM!
Every womans body is going to gain the amount of weight it needs. You're not gonna have a moose baby b/c you gained 35lbs. How much of that is really "fat" what if you're retaining water? what if your'e weighing yourself at a different time of day than last time?
One dr at my practice had the BALLS to tell me "well now you don't want to be eating the same portions as your husband" (while patting him on the back) He replied "wow, well yeah she's not housing full cattle or anything"
so then I said "let me know how much shame and guilt weighs and maybe you can take that off my plate"
Needless to say, i've never scheduled an appointment with her again. But watch, I'll get her delivering my baby and she'll proceed to tell me how fat my vagina is and shakes her head in disgust
A$$holes... all of em!
You do you and worry about the weight after your sweet baby is in your arms.
It's not a permanent situation.

I know how you feel... i'm up 18lbs at 21w. I gained a lot in the beginning I think. My doctor doesn't seem concerned at all. I exercise and eat (mostly) well - it is what it is. FTR - i think moose babies are v. cute!

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
I'm sorry
If it makes you feel any better, I will be 26 weeks Thursday and gained 32 lbs already and no one at my office has said it's a problem. My husband and I were also big babies. I'm also 5'8/5'9.
If you're eating healthy, I would try not to worry too much. I gained most of my weight 1st trimester and beginning of 2nd...lately it's been gradual gain, so I hope to not gain too much more. Everyone's bodies is different.
It stresses me out too, but try not to let it consume you. Everyone gains differently.
Again, I'm right there with you and no one at my doctor's office said anything.

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
Oh honey this makes me so sad!!!! You look incredible and I love seeing your pics!!!!! Everyone is different and gains differently and I cant even believe the doctors made you feel like that!!! keep your head up its almost over and do what you are comfortable with, I have the opposite problem and get cr#p for not gaining till the 3 rd trimester the doctors are never happy so don't try and please them. I have huge babies. Abby was measuring 42 weeks gestation an hour before I delivered her at 37 weeks as long as you are both healthy that's all that matters

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
If it makes you feel better, I gained 45 lbs with DD - I was dangerously close to going over 200 lbs by the time I delivered. Took some heat from one of the docs in my practice who made me cry. Well guess what? I easily lost all the weight. Just eat healthy, try to exercise when you can, and screw the naysayers. You'll be fine.

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
Thank you all so much, today was one of the hardest days I've had in a while(not all to do with the weight so so much more) and reading all of this has really really helped. I know I will be back to normal in my own time its just the transformation and wanting to do everything right for the baby that when you get a negative comment it really screws with you. I'm thankful for all of you posting it made today bearable

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
Honestly I wouldn't sweat it! I'm sure it was hard hearing it from your Dr. but your pre-pregnancy weight for your height seems totally normal, it's not like you were starting out overweight at all. I gained 45lbs with my ds and my dr. never once mentioned anything to me. I lost 98% of it before my ds was 9 mos. old.

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
What do they think, if you go workout on a treadmill the baby will lose the weight? If you are going to have a 7,8,9 pound baby it cant be bc you are feeding it too much and not making it workout... I think your weight is pretty avg with most pregnant ladies. I dont get the real big problem

I SO agree with this.
DH and I were both 8+ pounds...my dad was 10+ pounds...There are very few babies in my family born under 8 pounds.
I gained 66 with my first and 56 with my 2nd. I don't think it had too much to do with their size (they were both over 10 pounds) many women gain the same and don't have babies that size. Many people gain less and have babies that big.
Right now, I'm excited that I'm 28 weeks and have only gained 30 pounds!

Re: Rude Awakening (Vent)
Wanted to say Thank You all again for the kind words, I came home yesterday and realized it was just stupid for me to worry about something like this, my is doing great in there and thats all that matters. I was 11lbs at birth and my mom always wished a baby like me on me lol so what will be will be. I am thankful for the support from all of you ladies it was awesome!
