had my baby boy! updated with pic!
Hi everyone!
We just got home from the hospital today but just wanted to come on and give a quick birth story! My son is absolutely amazing and I really did not know I could possibly love someone so much! I was terrified before labor/delivery but everything really just falls into place. You may remember that last week I wrote several updates about going into labor etc - basically here goes - I was due May28th and felt nothing until my mucus plug fell out that morning. I started feeling contractions that night of may 27th but they were very mild. The next day my mucus plug came out more and then the contractions came on stronger. I told my hubby that I thought I was going into labor but really the contractions were bearable.
I began timing them and they were at first sporatic and then as the day progressed got stronger and stronger. They were 6 minutes apart then 5 minutes apart but were only lasting for about 30 seconds. I called the doc at about 9 PM just to update him. I told him that I did not want to rush to the hospital too early and would labor at home so he told me to call if contractions got to be 4 minutes apart lasting for a minute for an hour. Well I this began to happen at about 2 AM but I waited it out intil 4:30 AM! I really did not want to be sent home from the hospt. Once I got to Stonybrook (which was amazing by the way...each person I came in contact was nicer than the next...especially on the mother baby unit) I was checked in the triage. Well I was already 5 cms!!! I was so happy, that I progressed so much on my own. I got admitted right away and was brought to my labor room. I waited for my doc to arrive which was rough because he made me wait for about 2 hrs! I couldn't get the epi until he arrived and by that time I was 7 cms! More great progress...I got the epi and was is heaven. Doc told me that at the rate I was progressing that I would have the baby by noon! It was about 9:30 AM at that time. Unfortunately, he was wrong! He came back in 2 hrs and I was still 7 cms. This went on for another 2 hrs when he noticed that baby's heartrate was rising and dipping with each contraction. He said it was of concern but wasn't an emergency situation. He gave me the options and pretty much told me that the baby "could" be in distress. We decided it was time for me to give up my hope for a vaginal delivery. This was very hard, and I was crying but knew my son's safety and health were more important. As a result, I delivered my son at 4:19 via c section on 5/29. He weighed 8lbs 5 ounces and 21 inches in length. Recovery was very tough for me but I got thru it! Baby Dean is the geatest thing ever. We are still trying to get acclimated since being home today but wanted to come on to give an update. I will post pics another day!

Congratulations!!! Enjoy your little boy. I will say at May 29th is the best day to have a baby................. My baby was born May 29th 9 years ago.
