Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

i took their hats and onesies and the swaddling blanket for each, i figured it was their first

nurses hooked us up with lots of rtf formula and some powder samples and i was stocking up on the nipples that fit right on the rtf bottle

i didnt bother with diapers they were too big on them and didnt think about the fact i could use them later

eta i never saw a pacifier, or bulb syringe, they didnt give wipes i had to use damp cloths a lot of things some people say they took i never saw and they werent in the drawer of that bassinet thing cause i looked

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

The nurse hooked us up. She even told DH to bring in a big bag and she'd fill it

tons of diapers
bed pads (which were great to put on the changing pad for a while in case of explostions)
period pads
slipper socks Chat Icon
hospital panties... LOL
aquaphor
formula
soft paper towels we used for wipes early on
those belly support things. I remember I bled through one and asked the nurse for another. She said no prob, but they're pricey so she may not be able to get me another. I have 2 now and the little blood stain is nothing

I'm sure there's more too. DH brought a ton home with him every day

I TOOK ANYTHING I COULD GET MY HANDS ON!!! lol Chat Icon Chat Icon

The nurses gave us several bags of diapers, side snap t-shirts ( took like 8), swaddle blankets, soothie pacifiers, the soft sheets of paper towels they use as wipes, pads, UMMM- yea like about 2 dozen or more disposable underwear. I stocked up on them.Chat Icon Hey they came in handy and atleast I wasnt ruining my underwear the first few weeks.

4 thermometers, basin, combs, etc. I went a little crazy.

Lots of formula. We stayed then in the hospital for a little bit after we got home for her jaundice...so I restocked up on the diapers and formula all over again.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

Ummmmm What didn't I take... My mom brought home a bag every night with her!!! OMG... But I would like to add a disclouser that my aunt is the head nurse in the NICU and told us to pack a bag everynight. I think its pretty known, they said they cannot use anything once it is in your cart... (That doesn't go to say they should have to restock it every night though hhahah Chat Icon )

My nurse was great. She brought over a box of RTF bottles and filled my diaper bag with diapers and creams. I am so mad I forgot to take a blanket.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

Tons of diapers.

Tons of the little formula nursettes and nipples.

The comb- it's great for cradle cap

2 pacifers- but those don't count I don't think!

Those hospital receiving blankets

Vaseline and A&D packets

Maxi pads- but they were so big and bulky I barely used them- I liked the Always Infinity so much better

Extra of those "chucks"- to keep under me in my bed at home in case of leaks! Chat Icon

I also asked the nurse for extra of the Dermoplast spray and the cream for my who-ha!

And I took the peri bottle home too- but again, I doubt they wanted that back anyway! LOL

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

As much as we could. My friends all told me to stock up on everything.

RTF bottles - we had so many of them but they were useless since DS did not do well on them. So I gave them to a friend who's daughter was still using them.
Diapers
"Wee Wee" Pads - used these on the changing table at home.
Aspirators
Blankets
Gauze
Petroleum jelly
Pacifers
His first hat they placed on him - which is now in his baby book.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

hahaha i love this question...even more so that the hospitals here provide you with NOTHING...you get NO diapers NOTHING, you have to bring everything and provide it for the nurses.

sooo i was stuck there for 5 days...they have the hospital blankets...i now have 3 at home hehe
took home 2 knitted hats...figured DD had been there for long enough she deserved the 2 that were in the drawer.
and the nurses sent me home with a flat of RTF formula since my boobs didnt work...ok i didnt steal that but it sure was cool to get!

oh and the "almost home" room we were in for 3.5 days didnt have working tv but their was one in there...DH rigged it up and made it work with the cable in the hospital...even the nurses were impressed

not much compared to some of you guys, but for a place that gives you absolutely nothing i made out ok!

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

Every night the nurse would tell me she was going to load up her bassinet and she actually TOLD me to take everything out! We went home with tons of the individual bottles of formula, diapers, the little packets of vasaline and the bulb syringe The nurse told me short of any of the "linens" they were told to throw out anything left in the bassinet after the baby went home.

Thankfully I took the pacifier that they gave DD, because it was the only one she would use and I couldn't find it anywhere

The nurses were nice and when we left she gave me a 8-pack of RTF formula and diapers and we took the blanket and newborn hat and raided the drwaer under her bassinet before we left. I plan on getting more with this baby!

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

nothing - DS was in the NICU but discharged the same day I was. I didn't have access to anything to take.
My postpartum nurse put about 5 diapers and 8 RTF mini bottles in my bag, but that's it.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

DS bought the entire staff Pizza for lunch one day and OMG......I had bags and bags of diapers, formula, blankets, etc... They would all take DS out of the room, fill his bassinet and bring him back to me so we could refill bags for DH to take home.

Note to self, buy the staff Pizza Chat Icon
