Confession Time - What did you take?

So, what did you take from the hospital after delivering DC?

Every night I sent DH home with a bag full of diapers, the towel things used to wipe, tubes of vaseline, and pads from the bathroom for me Chat Icon.

At first he was embarrassed. But I said "What do you think our insurance company is being billed for this stay?" And he got over it.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

With DS, the nurses TOTALLY hooked us up...I had tons of the RTF bottles etc....

With DD, the little isolette thing had "just enough" of everything every time we got the baby..So pickins were slim Chat Icon

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

The day we left the nurse emptied out the contents of the cabinet under DDs bassinet and gave us extra diapers. It wasn't a lot - next time I will be asking for tons more!

I unknowingly took home all the baby blankets...and little onesies shirts..I thought they were free.

I heard later on from people that you're supposed to leave them. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

I took his little baby hat & undershirt that they put him in right after he was born. Pads, wee wee pads, a few diapers & about 8-10 RTF formula.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

Actually, the nurses packed a bag for us. It was filled with diapers, vaseline, pads for me, bottles of formula and those wipe type things

We still took more from the draw under the bassinet.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

I don't think we took all that much. I took a few spare pads and I think 2 pairs of that underwear they gave us.

This time around, I want to take many more pads and more underwear. I didn't know where to buy it afterward and found it to be very helpful.

We already bought tons of diapers and wipes so I don't think that is necessary to take.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

i took everything that was under the bassinet - a few diapers, lotion, formula, blanets, etc, etc. But the thing i was most excited about was the humidifier! They brought us in one & then said that its only for one patient use and would be thrown out if we didn't take it. Its a nice one too!

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

We took everything.
But when we were in the hosp a month later for DS's surgery (pyloric stenosis) we took every single receiving blanket we could get our hands on (the ones with the pink and teal stripes)... they make GREAT burp clothes.

My favorite thing by far that I took with both kids was the nasal aspirator. It's not like they were going to resuse that! I used that till DD#1 could blow her own nose!

I took the hats they put on them, pads, the underwear, and a ton of those plastic pads for under the bed to use as changing pads. Oh and lots of RTF formula!

We emptied out the drawer every night before DH went home. I took a couple packages of the pads, 2 blankets and the onesie shirts too! Chat Icon
I would have taken more of the Medela Breast Cream but the nurses seriously hoarded those and would only give me 1 at a time! lol

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

Teddy....We took tons of diapers, wipes, vaseline, alcohol pads, FORMULA, FORMULA, FORMULA...!!!!

Andrew...I robbed that place....right after they gave him back to me I stripped him of his hat and shirt, and put new one's on! I kept those in a special place so I can always remember that smell of him!! Anytime they brought him to me I stole everything out of the bassinet. I took tons of ice packs, since they were the greatest thing ever. I took tons of blankets, and I even took the one off the end of the bed because it was sooo comfy.

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

We only took what the NICU nurse gave us when we took C home. But she loaded us up - and when he first was in NICU, she gave us the first tee shirt they had put him in to take home as a keepsake...she was very sweet.
And 20 months later I can't even remember her name...Chat Icon

Re: Confession Time - What did you take?

I brought an extra bag with me and each time we got the baby we cleaned that puppy out. We had over 40 little nursettes and nipples, tons of vaseline packets, blankets, burp cloths, too many diapers, wipes...everything. DH took the bag home and emptied it each night. The day we were going home we brought cookie trays to my nurses and in the nursery and they hooked us up even more.

eta- they also hooked me up with 4 packages of pads.
