when to switch to a level 2 nipple?

DS is now 3 months. I see the level 2 nipple packages say 3-6 months. I'm afraid to switch since he's doing so well with level 1! when did everyone switch?

We switched a few weeks before she turned 3 months. It was DH's idea, he thought she could handle it. It took a few days for her to get used to it, lots of dribble.. but once she did, feeding time was cut down dramatically.

My DD is 2 and we are still on level 1

All kids are different..With my DS when he started to get fussy, frusturated and turn his head away from the bottle at feedings, thats when he was ready for the next flow up....

we didn't switch from stage 1 until 1 yr ..bec I was breast-feeding and giving BM in a bottle so I didn't want the milk to come out too fast and make it too easy that they would prefer that!

Depends on the child... DS I tried switching but never succeeded past level 1. DD has been on level 2 since 2 mos old and is moving towards 3 at 6 mos.

Try it and see what happens!

we switched at 8 weeks....she was taking forever to finish a bottle and was getting frustrated/swatting at it. we switched to level 3 at 6 months. she loves eating, so I'm glad to see Dr. Brown's makes a level 4, though I don't like that they call it "for aggressive eaters"! My little lady just likes to eat!

DD is almost 5m, I tried switching yesterday but she kept puking after her bottle so I am going back to level 1!

we used born free and switched at 3 weeks.... he was very gassy with the level 1 and it took him almost an hour to finish a bottle.

We switched our DD when she was around 2-3 months old. She was getting frustrated with the Level 1 nipple because it was so slow. The first few times she used the Level 2 she choked a little but she got use to it quickly. We ended up never needing to switch her from Level 2's to Level 3's and she didn't ditch bottles until she was 17 months old.

DD is 5.5 months old and was still using level 1. someone mentioned changing the nipple to me, it never even occurred to me. so i picked up a level 3 and DD finished her bottle super fast. no issues.

We just switched at 5 1/2 mo. DD was able to suck down a bottle with the slow flow in no time at all. I only switched because her suction got so strong that she started collapsing the nipples.

I tried here and there after 3 months, and he would choke on it. So I stopped for a little while and again at 6 months I tried. Now when he uses a level one he gets bored that it takes too long to come out LOL

We switched around 4 months - it was taking him forever to change a bottle.

We're still on Level 2 though at one year - we tried to move to Level 3 but, he screamed.

when he stopped drinking the bottle or it took him a very long time, then we switched to fast flow. I think around 5 months.

Ugh! I tried switching when she hit 4 months.
I had asked the Dr and he said yes at 4 months go to the medium flow.
She sucked down the bottle in 5 minutes flat and then proceed to vomit it all back up!

I chalked it up to her spit up issues and tried again a month later.
Same thing- sucked it down just fine and in 5 minutes -volcanos of spit up.

I am speaking with my Dr about acid reflux- i really think she has it since she can't handle a faster flow nipple at 6 months old!

I switched at 3 months....it took a little time for her to get used to the faster flow but she is okay with it now.. (she is almost 6 months)

DD is BF so I didn't want to switch for fear of her getting frustrated if my breast flow was too slow. However her bottle feedings were taking FOREVER so we switched to level 2 at 6.5 months and she is doing great. No frustration!

we are on level one but I do make the hole ALITTLE bigger myself. We tried level 2 and he threw up, but level 1 was making him mad. He is 8.5 months

we switched around 2 1/2 months becasue DD was colapsing the nipple.

Go by your DC's clues and change when your DC is ready.

I tried switching right when the twins turned three months and they both had a hard time with it (choking), so I went back to the level 1 and then just got them both on the level 2 when they turned 4 months.
Maybe just get a few and give it a shot and see how he does.
