So I am soooo upset.....

So Dh and I have been struggling really bad with money I mean to the point that our bank account is empty. I went to work yesterday worked my *** off all day to find out they were about to Lay me off. So at 4:30 I got called into the office and they let me go. So now I am unemployeed, we hae absolutely no money and I have no idea what to do. I have been hysterical all night and all morning, worried about my 4 month old DD. It just sucks bc its now the holidays and we have decided that we dont have much of a choice but to skip her 1st holidays since we can afford anything. I don't know what to do at this point.

I am so sorry...We are struggling as well and have no money..I hope you can find work asap. Since the holidays are coming I know some stores are hiring. Kohls, Target, Stores in the mall..Def worth checking out even if its just temporary work. Good Luck I know how you feel as my Dh is unemployed Well he only works Saturday nights but we have nothing left in savings and its so hard...

I am so sorry.. I know how it feels to be laid off, it sucks.. All I can give is hugs and wish you lots of luck with your job search. Just don't get down, stay positive.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Where do you live? What do you do? Since it IS the holidays coming up, most retail stores are/will be hiring (they'd probably give you as many hours as you want too). Unfortunately they are typically low paying (you may make more collecting unemployment).

I have been a p/t SAHM for over a year and we have nearly nothing left in savings either. Your DC will not know that there was no gift, trust me. We did not give DS a gift for his 1st birthday and we are not giving him one for christmas. He will get more then enough gifts from everyone else that he wont even know the difference.

If you have student loans, defer them (I have). Pay what effects your credit (mortgage, credit cards, etc.). LIPA can wait a month. So can cable. Lots of people are struggling right now but you can make it work.

That really stinks! I'm so sorry.
Remember though, the holidays are not about gifts and material things.
Lately that is what is has become, but if you get down to it, it's about family.
Celebrate with your family and your baby- and don't worry about gifts.

I hope you find a job really soon!

I'm so sorry. I know how you are feeling.
There are a lot of stores hiring right now for seasonal work, if I wasn't pregnant, thats what I would be doing.

IM SO SORRY! Seems like everyone is struggling these days. Im working part time now (I gave up working full time in NY in august) and its been such a struggle. We keep taking from our savings to cover expenses. I have a side business which has slowed down a bit so the $$ that I thought I would be bringing in isnt there. The expenses we calculated for insurance for me and DS is higher than quoted, everything goes up and up and up...Ughh..there's never a break!

Did they give you any sort of severance?? I would get the unemployment application going asap to start getting $$ in from that. IT will help.

Im so sorry My husband has been out of a job for almost a year. Trust me I know how it feels its very scary but you will get through this

I understand...I was let go 4 weeks ago.

BUT...don't be so wrapped up in "skipping" DD's 1st holiday ....she is 4months old & won't know if you spent $500 or $5 on her....a smalll token gift is just as special to her!

sorry to hear that. =( i was laid off while still pregnant with my son, so i know how you feel.
i think because you were laid off, you can collect unemployment. it's not much, but always something extra to put in the bank.
as for the holidays, your child won't remember much anyway. just use what you have, get creative, and make it a special time for her without spending money. maybe start a new tradition just for her to make it more special?

I agree with others, stay positive and start some new traditions, children never notice these kind of things, its always more about how much love you have to give them.

I agree with the others. Try to get on the holiday gift list. People will gladly buy your DC christmas gifts.

Also, I'm sure your friends and family will buy gifts for your DC. Hang in there.
