Do you have a checklist that you go through before you leave your home?
I can't leave without touching each knob on the stove, giving the frig and freezer doors a gentle push as well as faucets, and making sure the toaster and coffee maker are not plugged in.  Then I have to turn the door knob after I lock the door to make sure it really did lock.

always make sure I unplugged iron and hair straightening iron and the knobs on the stove. Thats about it.

I check to make sure I have my keys before I lock the door and then check to be sure the door is locked.
When getting in the car, as soon as I unlock the doors I put my keys in my pocket (or bra if I have no pocket) then get DS in the car, before closing his door I check again to be sure I have my keys. I am totally paranoid of locking him in the car. A friend of mine was the daycare provider for a child who died this way, it is a big fear of mine. If I have to start the car (to heat up or cool down) I leave the driver's door open and then put DS in the car (even though my car has a safety feature that you can't lock the door if it is in park with the engine running, I don't trust the car  )

nope...i probably should though...i usually end up having to run back into the house b/c i forgot something...sometimes even after driving a few blocks away.

Not so much before I leave the house, but I do it all before I go to bed.... I check that all doors are locked, alarms set, no appliances running (I don't run anything while I am out either), my alarm is set for the morning, and I check on each kids in their room.

Doors, toaster, dishwasher, stove, iron, hair straightener, doors locked (a few checks), none of DDs toys around that my dogs can choke on and nothing on the floor that the dogs can ingest, garage door down, gate closed. I hate all the checking, so paranoid but I esp worry when I leave my dogs home that something will happen to the house while I am not here.

I make sure all the lights/electronics are off, the windows are shut, and that I have everything I need (keys, phone, etc.) Sometimes I remember to check to make sure the gas on the stove is off.

Just that the doors are locked and the knobs are turned off on the stove (DH has left the gas on several times, so I am constantly checking after him. Fortunately I was always home each time he forgot).

This is what I do!
Plus I make sure the Kuerig coffee maker is off as well.

I check all the same (although sometimes I forget the fridge and freezer doors). I also check the iron and hair iron...usually more that once
