I went to Africa twice with my school. It was an amazing experience. I guess it overshadowed the England trip a bit.

smaller trips I enjoyed included Boston, Statue of Liberty, Bronx Zoo, Fire Island
Bigger trips that I loved were Montreal, England, Russia, Switzerland, Italy and France

overnight - Greenkill in 6th grade
I'm a 6th grade teacher and we do Greenkill for a week..BEST week of the year. (for the kids, of course ;)

7th grade we did a 4 night NYC trip...but that was cool for us cus it was a 5-6 hour drive away...probably less cool for the kids here. The next yuear we did DH for 3 nights and that was a lot of fun!! Philadelphia is probably a nice trip too, and it is closer to queens than DC. we used to do a lot of day trips to boston. there is a lot to see and do there too!

Try a 3-hour Circle Line boat trip around Manhattan. I also did Bronx Zoo, NY Aquarium, Bear Mtn., and Rye Playland trips in grade school.

When I lived in Queens (until 6th grade) we went on the BEST trips, the LI school trips were nothing compared. My 2 favorites were when we:
The Statue of Liberty and climbed to the top
Stayed overnight at Caumsett State Park and slept in the mansion

My schools sucked - our big trip was in 6th grade to Philadelphia. I think we went to Adventureland once in high school and the city to see Les Mis!

We took our 5th graders to Philly and had a blast! Except that I got bus sick about 30 minutes into the trip  but once we got there we had a great time.

We did a Project Adventure in 4th grade. I have no idea where it is (because I was only 9) but it was the most awesome school trip ever!
