We spent less than $200. We had the party at home, baked the cake ourselves, the kiddo guests played with DD's toys, and everyone had a great time. We thought it would be better to save the bigger parties for ones she would remember.

prob about $200-$300....

We did the party at a local park since we don't have that much room at our place and had 40 ppl(including 10 kids). Between cake, pizza(my DD's favorite), decorations, favors, and paper goods i'd guess around $200.

Not much, we had a party at home.

DS is a Christmas Eve baby so the house was already decorated for Christmas, we bought a cake, snacks, pizza and wings and I think I spent $30 on favors for the kids.

We will be spending under $300 just my family and his small we just moved into our house mid May so everything is not really ready for a big deal yet. It will be in the backyard heros, salads, cake, beer, wine and soda.

We will be holding off on the big parties when she gets older.

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

I WISH we could just have a backyard bbq party... but we need a backyard to do that. Chat Icon Chat Icon I love our house but now that we have DD I hate that we don't have a backyard.

It's August and we live in FL so it has to be indoors. The park near us that has an indoor facility wants $230/hour just to rent the space. So I think we're going to go with a restaurant.

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

We spent about $4000. We had 100 people at a restairant and it was like $30+ per person, then decorations and a clown. DS #2 is going to be atleast as much because now, 4 years later we have even more people to invite.

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

About $300. We had it in a party room at my dad's apartment complex and we made all the food and bought the cake.

I did favor bags for the children, which mostly consisted of toddler friendly snacks since the kids were all 3 and under, most around 1 years old. We didn't have entertainment either - at that age, being together was entertaining enough.

I didn't count the airfare and car rental that we needed to buy to get there since our families are OOS. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Memories for a lifetime!

She got to feed the birds, play in their play area, look at fish, see the birds, ducks and butterflies. She had a great time. We got to spend it with our little one and it was perfect!

Since AJ's birthday is so close to mine and my uncle's (18, 20, 22) we had a family bbq that weekend but it was really informal, just stuff on the grill, potato salad type thing. No decorations or big deal.

For us her first birthday was more for us than her. She didn't understand the significance of the day. Why waste our money when we can use it for something she would appreciate? I have plenty of other bdays to go crazy about. This one was one year from us in a hospital and waiting for her and all the drama that came with that day. For us it was about the three of us celebrating that first day fo her life just us the way it started. But that was only OUR opinion, of course.

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

Hmmm... maybe $1500 - $2000

had it at my parent's (although they helped a lot). With the food, cake, decorations, favors, and entertainment it added up. All good. About 75 pple and it was a fun time. Wouldn't change it for anything

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

we had ds first bday party at my il's house. they have a huge backyard with a pool, and we had a john-deer tractor themed bbq. (everyone was dressed like it was a "white-trash-bash)probably about 50-75ppl, but between the invites, tents, table rentals, cotton candy machine (mil was mad at fil so she got it lol) presents, favors, food, etc it was probably around 5000. my il's helped with a majority of it, my sil's did the baking. it was so much fun, even though ds had no idea what was going on!

Re: HOW MUCH did you spend on your child's 1st birthday party?

I wish I could just do a backyard party but DD is a winter baby so if I have anything it has to be out and I would rather do it at a place and have everything taken care of than to do it at a hall and have to get everything ready myself. If we do a party out it will probably be at the same place I had the Christening so I'm going to say it would cost around $2-3k
