My bathroom refurb...

So the worlds longest bathroom refit has finally finished...FINALLY! It took 3 long weeks and everything that came down, needed complete rebulding, from the walls being rebricked, to joists needing preservation to the floor needing reboarding. But finally...its finished and we think its fab. Its taking some getting used to, but its fab.

Enjoy some before, durings and afters!

And, TAHDAH! The finished product!!!
The walls still need painting but I am having a baby in 6 days, so that can wait.

WOW that looks beautiful.
I don't know how you did it for 3 weeks. Is this the only bathroom in the house?
Is that a heated towel rack?

Re: My bathroom refurb...

Yes, we only have one bathroom!!! We had a toilet, but we had to flush it with a bucket of water. We had showers at friends houses and washed at the kitchen sink. My son took a bath in a washing up bowl!! I should post a picture of that! It was an adventure, but the other bathroom was falling to pieces around us and it had to be done!

And yes, that is a heated towel rack/radiator. Its my favorite bit of the whole bathroom...in addition to the lit mirror, the many types of shower I can choose from (sitting down, standing up) and the big gigantic modern sink! Oh and the taps, and the tiles...I just love it all!!!

OH wow. Sounds like you have great neighborsChat Icon

How does the 1/2 shower door work? It seems like water would still splash on the floor.
I love my steam to much I need to be closed in. Either with a full shower door or curtainChat Icon

Re: My bathroom refurb...

Very awesome! I love it. How does that swing glass door work with a kid? we want to do that in our main bathroom and for resale or if we have kids i was always wondering does that pose as an issue with a young child or it really doesn't make a big diff.

How do you like that shower door?

I had them in all my hotels in europe and everytime I took a shower it look like Shamu was in there Chat Icon maybe I am just not a neat showering person.

The key with the shower doors is that the shower head has to be angled so you don't make a huge mess. I have always had one in this house, so its never been an issue for us. It makes no difference with the kids, when I give my son a bath it swings open onto the toilet enough so I can still sit on the toilet and chat with him when he baths.
IMO they are nicer than shower curtains because they don't get mildewy and dirty, and I think shower curtains always stick to you.

So its just a personal preference really! Dunno!

Re: My bathroom refurb...

yea that is the thing i hate all glass doors for a bath/shower i find them very restrictive, i do like shower curtains but it makes everything feel closed this might be a good resolution.

I was gonna say....I looked at the first pics and was like, wow, that's pretty nice. Then I realized that those were the "before" pics.

Love the European towel dryer/warmer.

Bloody nice job. Chat Icon

IMHO, European design and styling is so much better and, most of all, practical than some of the crap we have here. I mean, we can get Euro stuff here but you have to pay and arm and a leg for it.
