To see an RE or not? (WWYD?)

I saw my OB/Gyn in January and he prescribed a host of tests because I have 40-42 day cycles - HSG, SA for DH, pelvic sono, CD and CD 27 bloodwork, and I am to start Clomid with this next cycle. I haven't had any of the tests yet because I am waiting to get AF (probably tomorrow or Friday).

Now my OB/Gyn specializes in Infertility, but I don't know if he's an RE. This is our 6th cycle TTC. I don't know if I should just get the tests done and then go see Dr. Braverman (an RE highly recommended on these boards) if something is found, if I should just stick with my OB/Gyn (who I adore and fully trust) and see what happens, or if I should go see the RE now (while starting the testing prescribed by my OB/Gyn?).

WWYD?

Go see an RE. Even an OB/GYN who specializes in IF is not the same as an RE who deals with IF problems day in and day out. I would just go see the RE now before you do anything and let them run the necessary tests and determine your best course of action. Best thing I ever did was go to an RE. Good luck!

ITA.
I love and trust my OB/GYN too, but he really was not able to do the things for me that an RE has done/is doing. I would definitely go see a RE. I've heard great things about Dr. Braverman but his office location was not convenient for me. You will be spending a lot of time there, especially in the early morning hours, so location should play a role in your RE selection. I go to Dr. Saketos of RSofNY in Mineola and I LOVE her. I work in Manhatten so this is SUPER convenient. I make my appointments really early, then hop on the LIRR. GL!!

I started seeing an RE and it's like a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORLD as opposed to my ob/gyn!

i am partial cause i Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon dr. braverman.

if you are comfortable with your ob/gyn AND comfortable with the idea of doing unmonitored meds cycles then stick with your ob/gyn.

the benefit of an RE is that they diagnose and attempt to solve the underlying fertility issues and symptoms and there entire goal is to get you pregnant.

if you know you are def ovulating (albeit late in your cycle) but still want to TTC with minimal invasiveness and involvement, than stick with the ob/gyn.

that being said, i think if you want to take TTC up a notch then def 100% go to the RE.
