Housecleaning checklist
Does anybody have a cleaning schedule they do? DH and I have differing views on cleaning lol so we decided that we're going to try to do a daily, weekly, and monthly checklist for housecleaning... I'm tired of doing all the work plus taking care of a baby, so hopefully this works!! Thanks!

Re: Housecleaning checklist
I would love this as well. I think Martha Stewart has something like this. Hopefully we can find it. It would help me to get organized too.

Re: Housecleaning checklist
We clean every two weeks. We take one day and just bang it all out.

Re: Housecleaning checklist
I have been really trying to do one small chore a day so that on weekends, we don't have to clean.
Monday: dust, vacuum carpets
Tuesday: Not much! Free day in case something comes up later in the week.
Wednesday: laundry
Thursday: Clean bath, clean kitchen
Friday: Vacuum carpets, sweep wood floor, mop
Sun: Take out recycling, iron outfits for the week, make dinner menu.

Re: Housecleaning checklist
I have a cleaning lady come every two weeks. I clean my kitchen every day. The dishes are washed and put away. The counters are scrubbed, as is the stove, and the sink is empty. I can't stand food mess. Beds are made almost every day. I dust once a week. I do laundry once or twice a week. The toilets are done every two or three days. I sweep/swiffer the floors every other day. I vaccume once a week but should do it more often. The kids toys are picked up every night.
I need help with papers that accumulate. My dining room table always has a small pile of papers on it. I wish I knew what to do with them.

Re: Housecleaning checklist
Thanks for all of your suggestions! I have used Fly Lady in the past, but I don't really like using it anymore... lol I need to try something new since DH is the opposite of me in cleaning. I'll try all of your suggestions. Thanks for helping!

Re: Housecleaning checklist
See this actually turned out to be a helpful thread. When I first started reading the post, I was thinking "If my husband gave me a cleaning checklist of what to do and when, I'd hand it right back to him and tell him to get busy."
It does make so much sense to spread things out during the week instead of leaving them until the weekends. Especially now with . A lot of my weekly cleaning has slipped to bi-monthly.

Re: Housecleaning checklist
The only way I can get DH to clean is if I have a mini-temper tantrum. My DH is spoiled, and I have no one to blame for that but myself.
I don't have a fixed schedule, all depends on what time I get home from work. I also live in a co-op and try to be considerate of my downstairs neighbor. I do laundry on Sunday morning or Monday night, all in one shot. Wipe down kitchen every night after cooking. Dishes washed, put away. Mop the floor once a week, on a weeknight. Dust twice a week. Twice a week or so, I pick up stray objects around the house and put them away. Vacuum once a week, on Saturday or Sunday. Clean the bathroom once a week on a weeknight. Can get that done in 20 minutes before I start cooking dinner. Bed is made every morning.
I wash all my windows about 4 times a year, wash the sheer curtains at the same time, dust the drapes.

lol he asked me to make one because he wants to help, but doesn't know what needs to be done... He thinks it'll be easier for him if he actually sees on paper whats up lol so whatever works for him!

Re: Housecleaning checklist
I have a mental checklist, lol.
Like I know what I need to do weekly: dust, vaccuum, clean up clutter, sweep clean bathroom, laundry and I usually try to do most of it during the week after work a little everynight. and then whatever if left is done either sat or sun morning.
then monthly, I try to organize things. throw things out, do a really good cleaning of certain things, like windows, vaccum/dust/sweep UNDER furniture, behind things.
on a daily basis, we just make sure dishes are washed, and any clutter lying around is usually put away or delegated to a pile to be dealt with later on. Garbage is taken out. I think really like 15-20 mins a day straightening up and then one task like dusting or vaccumming and you'd be amazed how clean everythign stays.
DH helps A LOT too, so that makes a big difference. He mops. He loves it. He hates cleaning the bedrooom for some reason, so thats always my job.
