Tyler's getting flat head
Just like Jack had in the beginning, and my ped is literally going to rip me a new one.
I have a little over a week until his three month appointment and unless I keep him on his belly for the next 10 days it's not going to get any better.
Any advice? I have the noggin nest in his glider, I put him in the bumbo for a few mins a day (he hates it) and he hates tummy time.
ugh, I am dead!

Re: Tyler's getting flat head
ds had a flat side... so when i had him in the swing or bouncy i would roll a recieving blanket uner one shoulder to prevent him from laying on the saide....

Re: Tyler's getting flat head
Jackie had it at her 2 month appointment, and one side of her face was less full than the other. She hates tummy time, too, and all I can say is between 3 and 4 months, she's spent so much more of her time "upright," rather than in the bouncy or swing, etc. that it's starting to correct itself. The ped. noticed a definite improvement at 4 months. Do you think that will help Tyler over the next few weeks?
I know your appointment is sooner than that, but will your ped. really get mad?
What if you sit him on your lap facing you while you talk to him, or have him forward facing to talk to Jack or your DH, while you prop him up? That's what I started to do, and she liked the new perspective.

Re: Tyler's getting flat head
I am hoping that once he starts to go in the exercauser the head will even out. I did everything possible with Jack once I found out, but it's really hard this time around. I don't give him too much belly time for fear that Jack will trample him when he's dancing around the living room.

Re: Tyler's getting flat head
Joshua's head has a flat side too and our ped wasn't thrilled. He hates tummy time, it is such a challenge. What we have started doing is making sure that we turn his head to the non-flat side when we lay him down to sleep (we didn't use to alternate sides). We thought it was helping. The Noggin Nest is on its way from Amazon. We are trying to turn him so he has to look to his left but his head often seems to roll back to the flat area side. Its hard. The fear of a helmet keeps me going. We are trying to do everything right all the time and its so hard, alternating his head in the cradle just slipped my mind.

i have that problem ( fear) here with belly time too and both of the girls are getting a semi flat head. My ped was less worried then he was with Noah b/c of how much Noahs curved once he was mobile..I'm hoping the same for the girls...

Re: Tyler's getting flat head
We tried everything with DD and nothing worked - she would always get back into the same position.
We ended up with the helmet and I just wanted to let everyone know that it really isn't as bad as I dreaded it would be. It definitley was more of a difficult transition for mommy (emotionally) than DD.
My only wish is that I had done it sooner She didn't get it until 10 months and now she will have to wear it longer. The best time to get it is between 4-8 months since that is when their head does a lot of growing.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to FM!
