his head is getting flat in the back!
DS is only 5 weeks old, but his head is getting noticeably flat in the back from how he sleeps. DH and I have made an effort to give him tummy time each day, but DS is not a big fan of it and cries after a few minutes. We recently got him a head positioner from BRU that has a donut shape on the top to help the back of his head round out, but we'll see if it works...
Is there anything else we should do/try? We're going to ask the pediatrician on Monday, but I would like to know if anyone else has any suggestions...thanks!

Re: his head is getting flat in the back!
Rotate where he lays in his crib..I would change where johnny laid from day to day..one day with head facing toward the door, the other day away from it...
It really worked for us. For some reason they say most babies turn their heads towards their door when sleeping...by switching sides, it helps change up where they position their head. I would definitely attack this now, 5 weeks is good because everything can round out very easily...

Re: his head is getting flat in the back!
DS had a flat spot on one side of his head because he always looked to the left!
The ped just suggested tummy time, like you are doing, and doing things to encourage him to look the opposite way of the flat spot. Eventually when he had more control of his head and neck his head completely rounded out!

DS had it too, got the Noggin nest and it helped, and after he started holding his head up more, it got noticeably better.
Your ped will tell you if they think it's bad enough for further treatment, but it usually corrects itself....
no fear!

Re: his head is getting flat in the back!
I rolled up a receiving blanket and placed it under his cribsheet so that he was forced to lie on his side. Within a few days, I noticed a big difference.

Re: his head is getting flat in the back!
I agree with what all posted above me....I too started to notice that my DD head was starting to flatten on one side. My Doctor said that it is more comfortable for her to sleep on the "flat" part rather rathan than on the rounded part. It makes sense. She also likes to keep her head facing the room (instead of the wall). So some days I would put her down on one end of the crib and then the next time i would place her on the opposite side of the crib. It helped. Just another suggestion for you to try.

Thanks moms We have DS using the Noggin Nest and DH and I have been rotating how he sleeps in his PNP. I hope that does the trick!
