Milk production
What can I do to produce more milk? I pump after every feeding, though DD isn't feeding well, so I try to bf then give her a bottle of pumped milk or formula. Then I pump. I'm getting give or take an ounce total every 3 hours.
What can I do to make more?

Re: Milk production
The best advice is to keep your baby at breast. This alone will up your supply. If you are having issues contact a lactation specialist. You can also drink tons of water, oatmeal for breakfast and can try fenugeek or a mothers milk tea to increase your supply.
ETS: Go to the top and click on the advise for moms. There is a breastfeeding thread there that will be helpful.

Re: Milk production
I found out that taking a warm shower helped produce more milk for me. Which didn't help me as I couldn't breastfeed my DS.

Re: Milk production
Why do you think DC isn't getting enough? The pump isn't an indication of how much DC is getting. Babies are more efficient at getting milk than the pump. Also, it's common to not have very much milk if you pump after BFing. If you want to increase your supply, put DC to the breast a often as possible, drink plenty of water, eat oatmeal and try More Milk Plus and/or Mother's Milk Tea.

DD lost a lot of weight at the hospital and even more at home. Then she got jaundis! The pediatrition said I could suppliment with a little formula as needed after feeding her. She would fall asleep while I fed her a lot, so I just wasnt sure if she was getting enough. I continue to try to breastfeed though. I will try the things you mentioned! thank you!

Re: Milk production
With ds I ate oatmeal every morning and drank Gatorade. There are also lactation cookies you can make but I didn't find out about them until after ds weaned.

If you're worried about nipple confusion, you can look into get a supplemental nursing system. That would give your DD formula or pumped milk while she's nursing so she's still stimulating your milk production.
If you want to keep her awake, tickle her cheek, put a wet washcloth on her face and/or undress her. DS fell asleep a lot at the beginning and I had to do these things to get him to nurse more.
If you're worried about the weight, can your pediatrician do weight checks until she's back up to her birth weight? You can also ask to have her get weighed before you nurse and right after. This will give you an idea of how much she's getting.

Re: Milk production
I just sent you a loooooong email. But I agree with OP, you don't really know exactly how much your baby is getting based on the pump. However, 1 ounce every 3 hours sounds good to me at your stage.
