PLEASE help - i need homeowner's insurance!
the house in in suffolk county and the big companies are not writing policies there anymore.
please recommend your HO carrier!!

It's getting harder and harder to get insurance on LI.
Try Traveler's, they were willing to inusre us even though we are near water. Their coverage sounds great but they were a little pricey for me right now.
I went on the progressive site and their online quote was outrageous!
After many, many calls to different companies and getting almost nowhere, we wound up having to use a broker. He found us the best price and so far we have no problems.

Not completely true... Allstate definitely is not writing them but I just got a quote from a State Farm agent a week and a half ago. So there is hope!

I literally just closed today and we went through Liberty Mutual so I know they're still writing policies! Good luck!

We have Merchants. We went through an agency- they work with several insurers and found us a policy to meet our needs.

I have been very happy with Liberty Mutual. They gave me a great rate four years ago and they haven't dropped me.

My supervisor at work had trouble insuring her house in suffolk too. She ended up going with sterling.

I just got new HO insurance last week after being dropped(non-renwal) by Travelers. They dropped us because we are in a high wind zone and are not insuring this area anymore. I have never put in a claim in 11 years. They offered my insurance through a sister company for twice the price
I found and awesome agent through friends and got new insurance last week with Interborough(SP?) after being turned down by a million companies or given CRAZY high quotes.

We just got ours through State Farm and live in Suffolk. Strange, I hadn't heard that they aren't writing policies here.

We have travelers...we had the same problem trying to find one that will cover us. We are buying a house in wantagh and I called 5 other places and I was told sorry we are not covering that area anymore...Good Luck
