I DEF want my husband, mother and sister in there with me! They are 3 of my favorite people in the whole world- just not sure if I'll be allowed that many!

For me, just DH - I'm a first timer and God only knows what is going to happen and how I am going to react, I really don't want a bunch of people in there for the first one.

At first I just wanted dh. but lately he has been saying how afraid he is. So then I thought well then i'll have my mom and dh with me.
Now I'm thinking I"ll prob have to take care of dh and worry about mom crying or something,
so i think i might be most comfortable with my Dad. I know it sounds gross, but he would be such a great coach and i feel completely comfortable with him!
Not weird at all about wanting your dad in there! I already want my DH, mom and sister....if I'm allowed all of them plus him then hes in too

I would never think to have anyone else other than my DH when I have a baby. IMO it's just as private and intimate a thing as creating a baby (minus all the doctors and nurses, etc!)
When the time comes for me, I don't want to share that moment with anyone else except my husband.

I like the way you put this, ITA. Very private and emotional and this is only for my DH (and drs) to see.

I only had my hubby and I have no regrets. I didn't really want my mom there because she gets so worried and I think she would've stressed me out more.  Fortunately since my son is the first grandchild, I don't think my mom really knew that she could've been in the labor room with me. When she gave birth to my sisters and me, she was not allowed to have anyone other than medical staff! (This was not in the US.)

My DH and my mom. My DH gets lightheaded and isn't much help in there, so my mom has been in there with us both times, and will be again this time.

Thats it. No audience please. Not my taste. Not my style. Though I could think of a few people who would give their eye teeth to sit front and center. I am not performing for anyone thank you very much.

I am going to have DH and probably my mom... DH has this thing called vasovagal-- which essentially means, he doesn't do too well in hospitals. I'll need someone else in the room with me in case he passes out!

Same here, the key is 'private'. Nobody is seeing me in that posiiton but the medically trained hospital staff.
The thought of even DH present is weird so he's staying near my head at all times!

i recently gave birth.
i had my DH and my mom with me the whole time and i'm so glad i did. my mother got to watch her first grandchild be born and it was so magical for her.
it was never our intention to have anyone there but DH. we had even talked about it. but when the day actually came, i wanted her to experience it with us. i would have allowed MIL as well but they have a strict 2 person policy.
when it comes to "privacy", it all goes out the window anyway. i figured that my mom gave birth to me and went through the same things i was. she saw everything and i could care less--she created me after all.
so never say never because you never know how you'll feel in the moment. and DH was glad she experienced it as well! she still tells everyone how she saw her GS being born!

Agreed. I mentioned possibly having my sister (just in passing) and DH was adamant that he feels it should just be the 2 of us. I agree.

I don't think its weird to have a mom or sister in there with you, but for me I wanted only DH. We agreed that we wanted the moment to be between us and no one else.
My mom would not have wanted to anyway I'm sure...she is just as private about that stuff as I am!!

Just DH.... but there's a lot of pressure to have my mom and my sister. My mom and I are not close (gross understatement), and it would be awful!!! And my sister just became a LD nurse, and everyone thinks it would be so neat to have the "professional" in the family present. My sister has the biggest mouth, and no discretion with it, so my private experience would be very, very publicly broadcast to the family!!!

Definitely my DH, I don't know how I would get through it without him. I am mulling over the possibility of having my sister there as well, we are very close and she is a good support system.

Having my mother in there or MIL is just WEIRD...and sorry to say not sure why anyone in the world would want there mother in there...good relationship or not... it will be me and my passing out DH ONLY

When I was in labor with DS, everyone was in and out of the room the entire afternoon/night. I never ended up pushing as I had an emergency c-section (DS did not progress at all). DH and I had agreed that it would just be he and I for the labor but in the end, I really could not have cared who was in the room at the time  . Since it was a c-section, it ended up being just DH and I (as it will be for this one too).
