I am a mom!! My labor/delivery/induction story...
I am home with my gorgeous baby! Here is my labor and delivery story -I was not dilated or effaced AT ALL but was induced last week on my due date because of my age and history of infertility.
I got my cervidil at the hospital the evening before the doctor was going to start me on pitocin. The insertion didn't hurt me at all and took 5 minutes. They gave me a sedative shot and said to sleep, that nothing would happen until the next morning, so DH went home. At 4am I felt what I just knew had to be contractions, b/c it was a tightening around my back and belly every 5 minutes or so. It was uncomfortable at that point, but bearable.
DH got back at 5:30am. The contractions got worse as the hours wore on. When the Dr. finally got there in the a.m. and checked me, I was already 2cm. The contractions quickly got closer together and MUCH worse and by 3cm I couldn't take it anymore so they gave me an enema, and then the epidural at 11am. I immediately felt like I was in heaven and slept with NO pain.
At 3pm, they woke me and lo and behold.....I was 10cm and ready to push. It was easier to push than I thought, despite being numb from the epidural. Pushing was CAKE compared to contractions and my BABY BOY was born vaginally at almost 5pm. We were surprised because although we didn't find out the sex, we suspected a girl. He is gorgeous and perfect.
My recovery has been the worst part because I had an episiotomy, and a lot of swelling. Unfortunately I can't post pics yet, but feel free to FM me with any questions!

I'm not sure if it was a choice or not. They said, "time for the enema" and I guess if I had protested they may have not done it. But I wanted it so I didn't have to worry about the dreaded pooping on the table situation!
