Are you telling people the names you chose?

I had thought I would, but now that I think about it more, I think I am going to keep whatever names we choose to ourselves. I hear so many stories about comments people make about chosen names before the baby is born, and I don't want to deal with that. I experienced it for myself when I was at a bbq this past weekend and we were discussing names (not for us, but in general) and everyone had a comment about each name.

sure, why not?
I dont really care what other people think so if anyone made a comment I would ignore it

Our families like the names we've chosen - I personally have no reason to keep it a secret

NEVER< No ONE. For some reason, I feel that is private until the child is here. Call me weird on that, but I just feel that's for DH and I to know. When the child is here everyone else will know. I can't easily explain it, but I like that for DH and I to know about our future child before he/she is here, like it to be something only we know.

Nope, ours will be a secret until the baby arrives. This will avoid anyone talking about the names we picked out, and they won't be able to do anything but fall in love with the name once they meet the baby.

Well, if we could actually agree on names , I might tell our parents. Otherwise, I don't plan on telling anyone. I've mentioned to a few people some of the names I like that DH has rejected, but that's all I've said.

We have not finalized, but I only told some family - I sort of regret doing that because we have not chosen the middle name and I'm sick of the suggestions and people pushing certain names!!

Yes i told everyone the names i picked. I am not changing them if they dont like them. But everyone i told loves the names.

My mom knows-- and I told one friend just cause they already have their two kids.. I am more worried about people stealing names. I could care less what people think.

nope. I mentioned a few I was interested in and got the . So we have decided to not tell anyone until he/she is here. I also don't care what people think of the names I choose since thay are NOT the ones pushing this kid out. But I can save myself some aggrevation in the process.

I told everyone the boys name couldnt really hide it because my son named the baby if its a boy and he says it all the time.. The girls name we picked out I only told a few people because they were trying to help me with suggestions.. I have no problem telling people if they dont like the name thats there problem its not stopping me from chosing it...

I wanted honest feed back.. I wanted that knee jerk reaction that strangers so often give in brutal honesty..

Jezebel Rose

I always loved the name Jezebel - the way it sounds

So I *tested* the field. So far over 80% of the people I've told (strangers, family, etc) don't even KNOW the story of Jezebel and just love the name. It really helped with my decision.

I did have an alternative if the majority of the world really wasn't ready for a Jezebel. But frankly I think FINALLY old fashioned wives tales and twisting of the bibles words have faded.

We did last time and everyone drove us nuts. I think this time we will not tell.

If we could only decide on names then YES we will tell everyone. I'm not very good at keeping big secrets like this!!

no, we are keeping it a secret. we don't want to hear comments about our choices - and once the baby is born it will be too late! we did, however, tell our immediate families what the initials will be because the baby's initials are significant.

ETA: i love that DH and i are the only ones that know it makes it so special on the rare occasion when we use his name with each other.

Yes, I told people what names we chose for a girl and boy. At first I was going to keep it a secret but that didn't work.

We're discussing a list of names but keeping the final decision to ourselves. I too can not stand everyones comments and nit pickyness. It's our baby! Name your own darn kid!

Probably not, but mostly because I can't make a decision and I don't trust that any name will actaully be the baby's name until it is written on the birth certificate!

yeah I cant keep a secret too well and I love my name so if someone else is naming thier DD the same I do not care I am still giving her the same name

if we decide on a name prior to the baby being born- yes b/c we dont care what anyone thinks. With my DS we couldnt decide on a name until he was born and we saw him, so it was kinda a suprise- but not intentional

Nope. I don't want to hear any opinions. People are less likely to say anything once the baby is born and named already.

yes we are. We are like 90% sure of our boys name so nobody will change our minds on that.

Nope. People always ask us and we said we havent chose it yet. Although we have. I dont need to here other peoples opinions right now.

We planned on not telling anyone the names we chose, but then the family kept trying to guess! So, in the end (34wks) we gave out hints/clues, and everyone had a blast guessing. I even made my mom guess! So anyone who played along knows the names! Now we just need to see what we are having!
