need female OBGYN rec that's NOT w/ suffolk OBGYN
ugh.
i just typed out a long post and it dissapeared....
anyway, i was seeing dr. marshak at suffolk OBGYN and i've become really unhappy with all of them and that whole office lately.
i've had 2 miscairrages since january and, following the most recent one, went in to see the doctor who, among other insensitive things, asked me why i was there to talk about my miscairrages since i was currently pregnant....??! read the chart, maybe? not pregnant. had a miscairrage. hello? so angry...
anyway, i need a rec for a female OBGYN in suffolk who is patient, non-judgemental and not rushed, who knows what is going on with you and really cares. i know it's a lot to ask, but a little bit of personality would be nice as well.... i'm kind of b!tchy today...LOL...
i really appreciate and direction you all can give me and/or recs you all can give me...thanks!!

Re: need female OBGYN rec that's NOT w/ suffolk OBGYN
Sorry you're not happy with them. I've been going for years and I'm happy there but I do miss my original doctor, Mindy Shaffran, who left last year. I've been seeing Marshak too and I can tolerate her but she is a bit terse and not very warm so I understand where you are coming from.
I don't know of anyone else in Suffolk but if you'd consider a male doctor then Dr. Petraco at Suffolk OB/GYN is GREAT!! I never thought I would go to a male doctor but after meeting with him at one of my appts. I loved him!! I hope he delivers my baby!! Anyway, I hope you're able to find someone that you feel more comfortable with. Good luck!!

I left Suffolk ob/gyn because I wasn't happy with them either. I won't go into the details - but they did the same thing with me and asked me if I was there because I was pregnant when I was having trouble with TTC. I switched to contemporary women's care in Smithtown and see Dr. Rubin. I love her, she is GREAT. Totally takes the time out to sit and talk with you and really addresses and concerns or questions you have. She is like both a friend and a doctor. I highly, highly recommend her.

Another patient who left because of extreme insensitivity here. I switched to a male Dr(DR's Somers and Halpert at Personal Women's Care) and they are EXCELLENT
ETA: they are male

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I also left Suffolk OB Gyn because I was not happy with them.
I go to Three Village Women's Health in Stony Brook and love them. THey also have an office in Patchogue. I'm not TTC yet but have had issues with cysts in the past and I feel they are on top of things. My dr always listens to my concerns and takes me seriously. I see Dr. Kaelber but all the dr's there are great. Hope that helps!

Re: need female OBGYN rec that's NOT w/ suffolk OBGYN
I go to Suffolk OB, I agree, they don't read your chart before you see them. Very annoying.
Although I do have to say that I do not like the female doctors there-Dr. Marshuk was very mean to me on the phone the other day giving me my test results (and i've never met her). However, the male doctors there I do like.

Hi, Jennie I am looking into making a appointment with Dr. Ammarata. I was supposed to have an appointment with Dr. Marshak on May 14 and just have been having problems with even getting the paperwork sent to our place. I had a situation with another doctor at Suffolk so I had thought if I tried another doctor that it might be better. Not sure. I need someone who is personal and helpful and understanding. Since I am really new to this.
Thank you for helping us out.
