When Should I See My Dr.?

This is our third month actively trying. We were not technically trying in Dec, but if included then this is month 4. If I don't get PG by June, should I go ask my Dr. what's up? I got off the pill at the end of November and my Dr. told me that there was no wait time with this particular BCP. I'm just getting frustrated.

This month DH and I are going to BD every other day. If that doesn't work I'm going to buy an OPK for April.

If nothing happens by June and I see my Dr. what can he do for me at that point?

TIA!

I think it may depend on how old you are. If you're younger they may want you to try for a year but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

I would bring it up with your Dr around June. I am under 30 & told my Dr after 6 months of trying that nothing seemed to be working. She advised to get DH a SA (easiest test & less invasive) & that we would take it from there.

I think the age limit is bogus bc they "truly" want us to try for a year but we know our bodies. My feeling was, we have done EVERYTHING right & still nothing, something was just not jiving...

I think the unofficial rule of thumb is 6 months of perfectly timed BDing for women over 30, and 1 year for women under 30.

But like with any rule, there are exceptions! If your gut is telling you somethig is wrong, I don't see any harm in speaking with your dr.

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

I'm in my late 20's but I got PG with DD a month after being off BCP. I think that's why I'm wondering what is taking so long (even though it's not very long).

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

I would go at 6 months. Some drs say a year, but my dr is a bit more on the aggressive side and had me go for bloodwork and dh go for a SA. No harm in going early.

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

I saw my regular gyn after 3 months and an RE after 6 months. I am in my mid 30's and was not willing to wait any longer than that.

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

We had benn trying about 5 month when I saw my gyn. It was a annnual visit but we talked about TTC and she sent me off for test. Luckly she did because it was discovered that I had PCOS.

My gyn told me its usually under 30 try for a year unless you notice something or feel something is wrong. Like irregular cycles or no AF at all.

Re: When Should I See My Dr.?

Well I am under 30 so I guess I should have waited a year according to GYNChat Icon But I knew in my gut that something was wrong. And it was. So give it 6 or 7 months and then ask your doctor. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I HAVE BEEN TRYING AFTER A MC FOR 5 MONTHS NOW AND I HAVE BEEN OVULATING PRETTY LATE...I WENT TO THE DR AT THE END OF FEBRUARY.. I PERSONALLY FELT I COULD NOT WAIT AND WASTE TIME..

THE DR WAS GREAT AND COMPASSIONATE AND SAID IF I DON'T GET PREG THIS MONTH THEY WILL START ME ON CHLOMID RIGHT AWAY TO HELP ME OVULATE ON DAY 14..SO I THINK YOU CAN GO WHEN YOU WANT IT DOES NOT HURT TO GET CHECKED AND GET A HEAD START IF YOU ARE REALLY CONCERNED ..I FEEL IT DEFIN HELPED AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IT IS TAKING THE STRESS OF IT AWAY FROM ME AND PUTTING MY MIND AT EASE SINCE I KNOW I HAVE A PLAN B NOW

This rule was created by insurance companies trying to keep their costs down. If you feel in your heart there is an issue-GO!

That's what I was saying (or trying to say too). That although waiting is the norm, if your gut tells you something is wrong, then speak with the dr.
