Counting Crows at Hammerstein Ballroom...very awesome!

I also went to another Counting Crows concert in a very small venue in Manhattan. Don't recall the name of it.....

This is a tough one, but I can't decide between these two:

Depeche Mode at Jones Beach back in 1993

OR

Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle at MSG in 2000.

Ooh this is tough for me -

-The Cranberries at Dublin Castle, Ireland in 2000 (it was their return to the country after quite a few years)
-Garth Brooks in Central Park (with special guests Billy Joel and Don McLean) - 1997
-Any of the Sarah MacLachlan shows I've been to - her songs speak to me more than anyone else - it's like i could've written them

For me - Garth Brooks! He was phenomenal.

My parents said their best was, hands down, Paul McCartney.

They also recently saw The Police and said they were AMAZING.

My second best and probably the most amazing experience of my life was when I saw Johnny Cash, before he passed on (obviously) and it was just fantastic - I also had the honor of shaking June Carter Cash's hand I'm so proud of that!!!

Aerosmith, saw them many times, always consistently put on a great show - they have tons of energy and considering their age - sound great.

Has to be Duran Duran @ the Borgata it was the first time I saw them w/ all 5 origional members & I was in the front of the stage.

this is tough...I've been to waaayy too many Bon Jovi concerts so that's all I can think of!

My favorite Bon Jovi shows were at the Vet in Philly (awesome setlist where a true fan is in heaven!) and the night when it POURED at Giants Stadium (during th Bounce tour) and it felt like Woodstock! That was great just for the experience of it more than anything.

I've also seen Aimee Mann several times (what a polar opposite to Bon Jovi) and I LOVED her acoustic show a couple years ago. Also loved one of her shows at the Beacon Theatre.

Probably Radiohead at Irving Plaza...I think it was June 07. It was awesome fun not because of the band, but because it was the day after some big concert for the Dalai Lama and it was chock full of celebs doing funny things...( in those days we always had passes/vip passes) and I got up from my seat and freaking Winona Ryder sat on my coat, I went to the toilet after the show at the toilets in the VIP section and I swear...Thom Yorke walked in on me midstream! I lost my sister and when I found her, she was standing next to Larry Mullen Jr having a lovely conversation...Oh that was a night to remember.

I have been to a million gigs in the late 90's and enjoyed the after parties much more than the shows themselves.

But as far as the show goes, I would say (what a surprise) Belle and Sebastian at the Queen Margarets Student Union in Glasgow in 1997...it was only their 6 or 7th time playing together and omg, they had to keep stopping in the middle of songs, they were absolutely shambolic. It was hysterical.

eta...my sister and I went to see WHAM! in Philadelphia in 1984...those were heady days.

Billy Joel - He truly is a performer & makes every one of his shows different! I went to 2 of his concerts back to back

Bruce Springsteen - The boss is another entertainer who reallys puts on a wonderful show. I didn't sit down the entire night

Shania Twain - I never knew there were SOOOO many country fans in NYC! My BFF & I went to MSG & could not get over all the cowboy hats...We thought we were the only ones

Our Lady Peace at Hammerstein Ballroom. Though seeing them at Trax in Charlottesville was pretty amazing since I was thisclose to Raine Maida.

ETA: As much as I loved seeing Billy and Elton, nothing can beat a small venue.

I've been to many great concerts, Billy Joel and Elton John at MSG, just Billy at MSG, about 15 Bon Jovi concerts and all the hair bands back in the day, not to mention DMB, but my ALL TIME FAVORITE has to be:

BON JOVI in a CLUB! When they released their Keep the Faith album they played at The Fastlane in Asbury Park, NJ. There were only about 100 people in the club. My ex-boyfriend waited on line for the tickets all night -- Jon Bon Jovi drove by and saw everyone on line, in the rain, and gave them vouchers to come back the next day to get the tickets BEST. SHOW. EVER. I got to touch him! He even pointed me out dancing to the crowd!

oh cool you were there too!! I'll never forget having to take the bus back to NYC - we were soaked to the BONE. We were freezing on the bus since the driver had the A/C on so the windows wouldn't fog up. OMG our clothes were sticking to us!

Def Leppard back in the 80's.
