Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...

As a high school teacher I wonder how I'm going to be able to make it the 30 years I have to bank until I qualify for the full pension. Some of the kids get worse and worse as the years go on and I've already had a few dangerous situations.

I was going to retire at 57 but taking a year with DCs now puts me at 58... 20 more yearsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...

I can't imagine doing this for the rest of my life. The stress is too much and the hours aren't the best for family life.

I see myself in education, but I don't want to be a classroom teacher for longer than 15 years. I either want to be a reading teacher or an administrator... leaning toward reading teacher.

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...

Unless I hit lotto- and can become a SAHM- Ill prob be at my current job, until I'm done having children, and they are all in school FT.

After that I find myself staying in a similar field- (working w/ children or doing administration) but I would love to be a guidance counselor, or do counseling from home...

Definitely - in one way shape or form I will be involved in education/library! It's great now and it will be perfect when I have kids!

Just the thought of knowing I will have to work for the next 20 years makes me want to hurl myself off a bridge ...

So I guess my answer is no Chat Icon

i'll probably always do something related to nursing, but i doubt that i'll be in bedside nursing very long. Down the line, i'd like to teach, etc...

I think so. I took over my mom's dance studio and she retired at 69.

NOPE!

But I've learned to never say never careerwise. Every year at the company summer picnic, I always say "I wont be here next year" but before you know it the year flies by and there I am again!

I hope not! I don't think I can handle the stress of it. It would really have to depend on the positions I get in the next few years. I am working on a masters degree in a different field so i have a plan B

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...

I don't think so. I really don't want to be in healthcare forever, I hate how "dirty" it is and everything I am exposed to everyday. Eventually I would like to own my own business, the fun part is trying to figure out what I am good atChat Icon Chat Icon
