So in that case, I would do my kitchen floor...travertine or slate (BIL would do it at cost for about that much).

the one we want is over $2K, but I couldn't think of anything else in the $1K range that wasn't jewelry

Satellite Radio for my car....
Or an Ipod that would work in my car...(don't even know if that's possible)....
A washer/dryer so I can do laundry in the house.....and of course whatever plumbing and electric would go with it to hook it up...
A Gift Certificate for a cleaning service for a year...

Yes, I would like to have our asbestos garage taken down and have a new shed in the yard, with electricity so I could put an extra fridge/freezer out there. But I have gotten a Kitchenaid mixer for the holidays this year...which is a pretty good gift!!!

I can't think of one big thing I want or need. Dh would love a riding mower.
If it was 1000 to spend on several things, I'd buy the handails, wood, trim we need to redo our main staircase.
