Spinoff- what are some of your other pet peeves/words/sayings that drive you nuts?
Pretty much all of these posted. I also strongly dislike most adjectives. Certain words actually trigger an almost angry feeling when I hear/read them.
I really need to stop posting today. I'm making myself sound like a lunatic!

any normal English word that has been shortened -
ridic, totes, gorg - speak like an adult please, you're not 13 years old! If you are, then you get a pass b/c this type of slang is specifically created and used by your age group!

"Better Safe than Sorry"
"I wouldn't have it any other way"
"To each their own"
ALL make me irrationally insane b/c they're usually used with some snarky, "I'm better than you" judgmental comment

When I see some of these things used- like totes for example- I feel my blood boil a little and my blood pressure rise. And I get angry. Like grit my teeth, curl my fists angry.
I need to chill out. And take some Xanax or something

Was just walking through my workplace and over heard one person say to another "she threw me ONTO the bus". Lol

I can't stand, "I can't" - as a shortened version of "I can't take the cuteness" or the like. You can't exactly what?! Finish the thought!
It also irritates me when people alternate caps and lowercase and elongate words by multiplying letters... LoVvEeeeEe. Ugh. It's love.
Liberry instead of library irritates me.
And lately I've been hearing people say "in lieu of" instead of "in light of."
And my whole family pronounces my daughter's name (Liliana) as Lily-Anna.

1) The incorrect, overuse of MYSELF. I don't know when or how it started, but I cringe every time I read things like:
"DH and myself are going to the party." - It's "DH and I are going to the party."
"They asked a coworker and myself to give a presentation." It's "They asked a coworker and me to give a presentation."
Stop it! Would you say, "Myself is going to the party?"
2) "Between you and I."
It's between you and me! It is never, ever "between you and I."
3) Forgetting to add the past tense to words. For instance:
"I was suppose to go."
"I use to eat there."
It's SUPPOSED and USED.
ETA: I'm cranky today.

That's a good one too! Can't stand that! I have never felt the need to start an email that way. What am I going to respond, no actually, I'm Ill, my dog died, I'm getting divorced, filed for bankruptcy, got yelled at by my boss, etc...

I cringe when people say "standing ON line." I want to punch someone. You are not on the Internet. There is no physical line you are standing on. You are standing IN a line. Ughhhh. NY is the only place I know where people say ON line.
