Happy Half Birthday Lila! I'm so proud of you for standing up for yourself and Lila! I'm sure she's going to do great on the Keppra, it's a VERY common seizure medication, especially for children. Big hugs to you! You are one tough mama!

Please hug your babies UPDATE page 18
Speech and swallow came in today as scheduled. She's still not taking the bottle but we're working on trying to get her to take the pacifier while she's getting tube fed so she associates sucking with a full belly.
She did better with tracking today. She will follow an object for a second but doesn't stay fixed on it. She has also been making some eye contact. So definitely a small but noticeable improvement! Hopefully she just needs time.

Oh wow. Just reading this now. My heart goes out to you and your family. Seems like every day that passes she gets stronger and stronger. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now. Take care of you too. I'm guessing you have been in contact w social work dept as well? Def use all avenues up there. I did my masters level internship up there. You have some great people behind you. God bless your little one. Wishing you bright days ahead.

Big news! Lila smiled! Not her big cheeky smile but a smile nonetheless. And there were witnesses so I know it wasn't in my head. Also, she drank 10mls from a bottle! It took a little while but she did it all on her own!
The hospital has mentioned on several occasions that there really isn't much that's keeping her here anymore. She can go home with the ng tube and receive home health and therapy services. We weren't thrilled with that idea. Today they presented me with a possible alternative to send her to St. Mary's children's hospital to receive inpatient rehab and therapy. They won't have a bed until sometime early next week and Lila will be able to stay here at SB and continue to be treated until it's time to transfer. It's not set in stone but we think that, even though it's not very close to home, it would give Lila a better opportunity to get back to or as close to normal as possible, much faster than having to wait for evaluations to qualify for EI services.

You trust your mommy instincts and don't take her home until you feel she is ready. The children's hospital sounds amazing and like it will help her so much!
