thank goodness she has such an amazing mother in you - that way she will always know what it means to really love someone and be there for them all the time.

My DD is mad that I want to say something to him! She said that she will get raked over the coals by him because I called him on it. 
That's just wrong of him to make her feel even worse!

I was your DD when I was her age. It's sad to know that at 23 years old, my sperm donor is making a pitiful attempt to rekindle our "relationship" and I can't even be bothered!
My mom is and always will be my mother and father and that's perfectly fine! I admire the fact that you have not lost your cool with him! You are better than that anyway!

Sorry to hear this Phyl.
Although my father seems to be a lot more active in my life than your XH in your daughter's, there are still plenty of times I feel totally let down. It really does hurt - especially when you feel like you go out of your way and try so hard.

Your daughter will be bright enough to know when enough is enough! I suffered for a long time and even went to find his sorry arse twice! It was awkward and not even worth it!
He'll realized he missed out, he'll regret it and it might be too late.
You are doing the right thing! I'm just sorry you have to be the one to break the news to your daughter for his sorry behind!!!

I didn't even know him and when he died I got a call from the PD to identify him. I told the cop I couldn't ID him cuz I hadn't even seen him in 6 years....

ugh I'm so sorry... I totally feel for your kids. I was Jackie at one time too. You are a GREAT Mom for trying to keep them in contact. My mom worked hard at that too. They are so lucky to have you.
I don't regret it one iota (and neither do my sisters) that I don't have a relationship with my bio-Dad...in the end, I know it was for the best (especially since my stepdad earned the title). I tell my mom this all the time, but it doesn't help how much she regrets that we didn't have a relationship with him. It was not her fault and it certainly isn't yours either!!! I'm sure it doesn't make it easier on you and I can imagine how much it hurts to see them so hurt....you probably want to f'n kick his a s s!  I'll join ya!
And for one thing- how can he expect his kids to reach out to HIM? They're KIDS!!!!!  What an a-hole.
Man...I just don't understand parents like this....
