So many pretty girls on here find themselves unattractive and I find that so sad. Also I think that so much depends on who you are and how you are, I know people who are beautiful bc they are awesome. Personality matters a lot IMO.

Also just bc someone is confident or is beautiful does not mean they lack depth and a soul WTF. You can be pretty and know it and still be a nice, decent person. It's like people have to be down on themselves to be relatable to some people and that is so annoying. Just bc a person is generally confident does NOT mean they have no insecurities or think they are perfect it means they are comfortable with who they are, which IMO is a wonderful thing.

Jenny, being down on yourself does not mean you cannot bring yourself back up.

you had the confidence before, it's hard to sustain it over time and over change but it does not come from an exhaustable source.

I am going to be 38 in just 3 months. I know I am not a perfect person. I have my flaws, but I do think I am attractive inside and out. not to everyone, and I don't have to be. but I am to myself and although it is cliche it really DOES matter. not how often we get hit on, or what anyone else, including our SO's think- but what we feel about ourselves when we look in the mirror.

it doesn't matter that people will look at some responses and think that these women are conceited. We should feel and are allowed to feel GOOD about the women that we are. It takes nothing away from any other woman out there.

you ARE still beautiful and you are still young. I've got 10 years on you and I promise you, it can only get better.

To answer the original question I think I'm lazy. If I was less lazy I would be more attractive. I think I'm average without fixing up attractive with makeup hair did. I could stand to lose about 40lbs too.

Just to clarify- I never meant she was ugly. I meant that you can be pretty but if you come off conceited then it can make even the prettiest girl "ugly" (and to me her post sounded conceited).

I'm a lot like gina409, on a normal day I could give two shits about makeup and clothes and stuff. I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl.

But when I do my makeup and hair and make an effort I'm hella attractive.

What an intriguing question and so many thoughtful answers to it. In my case, I was lucky when I was younger. I used to be considered quite beautiful - I've been on magazine covers, but as I've gotten older I lost that youthful sparkle and gained lines in my face and a few pounds. I became simply nice looking - which is not a bad thing. No more whistles or second glances, but I knew they would never last, fun as they were at the time.

To those of you who are feeling dumpy and tired because you are taking care of kids, a house, job and DH, please cut yourself some slack!! Years from now you will look at pictures taken today and realize how fresh, pretty and young you were although you were too overwhelmed to see it at the time.

Don't try to compare yourselves to images you see on TV or in print. I cannot begin to tell you how much work goes into creating the illusions you see in them. I once had a makeup artist spend three hours on my face for a Max Factor shoot, two hours on my eyes alone. I honestly did not recognize myself when he was done and swung me around to face the mirror. Most of the make up I had on was not made by Max Factor, it was a mix of brands that the makeup artist liked to use. That held true for cover shoots too. What gets credited is not what is actually on the model. It's all a sham.

So please, please do not look into a mirror at only 28 years old and think you have lost your looks because you haven't and you won't for years. You are lovely!
