Do you share meals when out with your SO/H?

I‘m asking this because it seems my SO is a bit weird about this. When we go out to dinner, he always likes to order his own thing and will share only if asked. I‘m all about putting the food in the middle, cutting, and sharing. That way you get a nice taste of everything. I will usually steal a bite off his dish, however.

I used to always share with ex-H. I thought nothing of it. Now I‘m wondering if this is strange behavior.

This came up because I mentioned how I wanted to go to one restaurant for my bday in two months‘ time. I said, but we have to share. It‘s a Malaysian place. He was like OK, but just for your bday.

No! Unless it's decided while we're ordering, which is rare. I'll give him a bite and he'll give me a bite of what he's eating but that's usually it. I don't like sharing food. I especially hate when we're out with a group and they want to order apps to be passed around the table. I like to order what I want and just eat it myself. I feel like I have to cut myself off before I'm really done otherwise, which is annoying.

We have different likes/dislikes when it comes to food, so unless it’s family-style or we discuss before ordering, no sharing.
Especially when out at nicer restaurants, I like to experience the whole dish.
One of us may offer a “taste” to the other, but that’s it.

My bff always wants to share and it annoys the hell out of me.

I always thought sharing was more of a foreign thing, actually, but maybe not since you’re in Germany?

No, we don't share meals. If we order something unique, we may give the other one a bite, but even that's pretty rare.

I will go out and go halves with my sister. DH and I would share, but he usually orders things I don't like. I HATE sharing with a group. There's a group of ppl we go out with regularly that love to order appetizers for the table and it's always an uneven number. It's so annoying. Like a table of 7 ppl and they'll order apps that come with 4 pieces.

No. DH is very specific and picky on what he likes. I eat almost everything and like to try different things, but I do that with my friends, like tapas style.

No we always order our own. Now because DH is on a very strict diet and can't eat what I eat for tbe most part, but even before he was doing this way of eating, we always got seperate meals. The most we would share would be am appetizer maybe

OK, now I realize that I am a bit crazy. I would only share with very, very close friends, my family, and SO. I mean our mouths (SO and I) have been in each other’s mouth, why not share a meal.

I would never share with someone I didn‘t know.

I do get strange looks here when I ask for two plates at certain restaurants. I guess they just don‘t do that here. I only do it at certain places (Asian, sushi, dim sum, Indian, etc.)

I love to share. I share with DH, my mom, brother, and some close friends.

I think its just a personal thing - my dad for example, HATES sharing. He gets cranky if you ask for a bite.

Wow, I would've thought the majority said yes! My DH & I share most of the time...and I like sharing food with friends, like apps. But my husband is Turkish & we lived in Turkey a few years & it's very common to get lots of mezze (apps) & pass them around. I love being able to taste lots of different things in one meal.

No never, I hate sharing LOL. We are picky eaters and like different things. Plus, I am a foodie so when I order something, I want all of it - I don't want to have to cut myself off to make sure there is enough for someone else. I feel like if you are the kind of person that really likes to eat, then family style restaurants aren't ideal.

No, Never!!! I order what I want to eat and if I want to finish it all I want that option! I'll taste the other persons food if it looks good and vice versa. The only time I will ever share is if I go out for tapas, because thats just the way it is.

Never, ever, ever.
First, I'm a picky eater and do a lot of substitutions and "on the sides." I don't want to have to worry that someone might not want what I want the way I want it.
Second, if I pick something to eat, I want THAT. No I don't want half of your unless I truly can't make up my mind, and even then I'd probably just come back another day to get the second dish.

We love to share! We like trying lots of new dishes so we usually pick 2 we’d both like.

No. We never share a dish at a restaurant. We might share 1 bite but that's it.

Every now and then we will get some appetizers and split a meal but for the most part we get our own and taste each other’s. Usually he gets something I don’t like and when we got out we should both be happy.

Nope. We will split an appetizer and that’s about it.

We ALWAYS share meals. We literally split them down the middle. No one is ever disappointed.

NOPE. NEVER. unless he's asking me to try something and take a bite, then no. Sometimes he may finish something of mine if I am done and its something he likes to eat.

outside of a family style serve restaurant...we never share meals.
