Re: attn: married people

We don't, only our wedding anniversary. But it just so happens that our first date was a few days off from 5 years before our wedding, so it's all the same thing to me.

To be quite honest, the day we acknowledge as our "anniversary" is the day we started to date, not our wedding. Even though we've only been married for almost 2 years, we've been together for over 10 years. Our original anniversary is more significant to me than our wedding anniversary because it's the day we became "us". I even sometimes forget my wedding date Chat Icon but I will never forget our anniversary date.

Re: attn: married people

I answered the poll wrong, I thought it meant 1st anniversary as in wedding date, not dating anniversary. I do not celebrate it. We did use it as our anniversary date before being married since we never really started on certain a date of dating, it just happened.

Re: attn: married people

We make mention of it... one of us will say something like "awwww....xx years ago we met for the first time" Something silly like that, but we don't celebrate it.

Re: attn: married people

No, mainly because DH and I were off and on since I was 14 and he was 17. We remember the month and year we met, but everything else up until our engagement is a blur (date wise). Even if we did know the exact date, we wouldn't celebrate it.

No, the only time we "celebarted" it was our firast year and we were already engaged and planning two weddings by then. I do usually comment if I remember, but the last few years I realize it a few days after the fact! Chat Icon

We acknowledged it by saying "Oh how sweet we've been dating for x years today!", but we didn't go out to dinner or anything.

We don't do, but we don't do anything to over the top. We usually stay home and have a nice candlelit dinner that we made together.

Yes, only because it is two days before our wedding anniversary - so we celebrate both at the same time.

No, I can't even remember the date of when we met, I think it was in December...
We don't "celebrate" our wedding anniversary either, we acknowledge it with a quick"Happy Anniversary" in the morning but we don't give each other gifts or anything.

Our first date was breakfast at Maureen's Kitchen on New Year's Eve morning - we have gone back every year since, but we don't do any other "firsts".
I think we mostly do it cuz it's an excuse to go to Maureen's!Chat Icon

Re: attn: married people

We usually mention it, but haven't really done anything special since before we got married.

This year, however, is 10 years since we've been together. I'd like to do something a little special.

We still go out for dinner and knowledge it. Why not? It's an excuse to get out and celebrate! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Us to....it's not a huge thing but dinner and a walk down memory lane is important to us. The "big" celebration is the wedding anniversary though

Same here. Our dating anniversary is much more important to us than our wedding anniversary. I can tell you our dating anniversary without thinking. I figure out our wedding anniversary based off the dating anniversary. We've been together for over 20 years now. For us, the wedding date was the day we signed a legal document and had a party. The dating anniversary was when we became a couple. Chat Icon Chat Icon

No, we only celebrate the wedding anniversary now. To celebrate all the little milestones was just getting to be too much!

ITA. We will be married 10 yrs in October and started dating 2 yrs before that. After the fist 2-3 yrs of being married we decided to stop celebrating our "dating anniversary"

We get each other a card and he makes sure he doesn't work late, and obviously hang together for the night.
