I don't friend co workers (current or otherwise) on my fb, so generally unless we were very close, i'm not in touch with former co workers.
I left a job I was at for 7 years last July, and got a call yesterday from a co worker from there who retired shortly after I left. She just wanted to say hi happy new year and how are you (very sweet of her, nice woman).

It was absolutely strange hearing her voice on my voicemail, pleasant and lovely but still strange. It felt like I hadn't seen her in 20 years not 6 months. When I called her back we discussed the job and how we both despised the office and feel like we were freed from jail.

Do you keep in touch regularly with former co workers or make a clean break?

Re: former co workers and keeping in touch

It depends on my relationship.

when i was in retail where I worked for 14 years. I keep in touch 2 people. And it just a text or phone call.

My current job where I have been for 13 years...

I keep in touch with like 4-5 people at my current job. It's a smaller company than my retail job.

At my last job, I was good friends with one person, and we're still friends. At the time, I saw no issue with friending people on FB that I worked with, but after I left I didn't care to keep in touch and ended up unfriending them. At my current job, I didn't want to friend anyone, but 3 people friended me and I felt weird about ignoring their request, so I accepted. There's someone here that I get along with really well and she recently friended me, but I was ok accepting b/c we're moving soon and I want to stay in touch with her. The other 3 will probably be unfriended in about 6 months when they've forgotten about me. :)

I am fb friends with a few and keep in touch with one somewhat regularly. I live far from where I worked and where my coworkers lived or I would definitely see more of them. The first year or two I heard from a few now and then but it's been almost 5 years so for the most part that has dwindled side from one.

I've been at my job for 7 years, but I do befriend coworkers. 3 people I've been friends with have left, and we all still stay in touch on a regular basis (calls, texts, in person)

I have kept in touch with many former coworkers. I left my job a few months ago but most of them left before I did. They all live in the city but we make a point of seeing each other.

I only friend people on fb after I leave a position unless I am good friends with them. We exchange phone numbers too but I never text them

Ugh I made it 3 years before being friended on Facebook (didn't use my real name) once it was one..... now it's like 30. I had a major issue with it and hate that I accepted that first friend request :-/ but I did. I still work where I do and I guess would it unfriend my coworkers if I left

I made an effort when I left my last job, but the effort was not returned so I now rarely see them.

ETA: I'm facebook friends with people I work with, but we need to be good friends. Most of them I hang out with outside of work (play dates, girls night out, etc).

I am still friends with two former coworkers, and I considered them two of my close friends. I don't think Facebook has a tremendous role in our relationships, and I think we would have remained friends regardless. We were texting and hanging out before they left the jobs. (I know that isn't part of what you asked, just found it an interesting thought as I was typing out my response.)

Re: former co workers and keeping in touch

This is one of my reasons for having fb. I can keep in touch with people I won't see but do care how their lives are going

In general, I keep in touch with those who I was close with at the job. Meet up for drinks, dinner, catch up, etc.

Re: former co workers and keeping in touch

Generally what happens is I make an effort but the other person doesn't so I give up after a little while. I have one friend I text with regularly from my last workplace and I think we'll keep in touch long term but other than that, nope. I would if people bothered to reach out occasionally but I'm not going to do all the work.

I don't speak to anyone from my old jobs. Actually. It true I'm still friends with 2 people from a job about 15 years ago. We don't see each other a lot but we keep in touch.

If I left this job now, I know I'd stay in touch with a few people.
