from finding to accpetance to closing... how long?

Say me and my fiance find a house, we look at it and want to start the house buying process (we are looking to get a prequal mortgage soon just started looking seriously this week)...

how long on the avg does the process take?

I know it can totally vary from weeks to months if theres drama but is there a normal time frame to expect?

i would say first of all good luck!

second - get preapproved, not prequalified for a mortgage

FH and I have been looking for months, but we really have been researching areas, etc.

we are going to hopefully be in contract by january and close in march. I would estimate 60-90 days from contracts to closing.

Re: from finding to accpetance to closing... how long?

We found a house and offered 9/29, offer accepted and paperwork signed 9/30 - Engineer in to inspect 10/2, Contract signed and check mailed today - Now we're waiting for the sellers to sign and send us a copy of the contract to continue the mortgage process (We had been preapproved about a week before we found the house)
Our closing date is set for 11/29 - as of now.......So I guess from finding to closing, it will be about 2 months for us

Once you have an accepted offer the average is about 3 months. But it takes a while to find the perfect house. It took us 10 months Chat Icon

DH and I found our house and made an offer....negioations were finished within two hours. We had an engineer in two days later. Our lawyers agreed on terms and the seller is signing contracts today. I'll probably sign in the next day or two! Tentative closing is 12/10.

Re: from finding to accpetance to closing... how long?

It took us a little over a month to have an accepted offer and close on the house we just purchased but that was because we worked really hard to make it happen. Our buyer on the other took a lot longer because he wanted to dealy the closing to coincide with his lease end date. We had an accepted offer at the end of June and didn't close until the middle of September.

So I think that the norm might be in the 2-3 month range depending on how smooth the paperwork flows and how quickly the bank turns things around.
