what flavor cake would you get for a bridal shower?

what flavor should we get.
Frosting has to be white

bridal party is saying vanilla/butter cream frosting chocolate chocolate cake

my cake person suggested vanilla or almond cake with chocolate and raspberry ganache she said to think rainbow cookie.

one person in the bridal party doesn't think we should go fancy and if people don't like rainbow cake they wont eat it.

I kind of agree with that but I don't think chocolate is very universall but I also don't like cake especially chocolate so I know I am biased. there is a better chance I would eat a vanilla based cake.

I am thinking vanilla based with some kind of filling. I am pretty sure she does a cookies and cream filling

I am sure I am overthinking this but what would you get.

I recently had cake bon bons done and did almond cake with dark chocolate dip and it was AMAZING.

Almond is sooooo good

my wedding cake was vanilla cake with dulce de leche filling and the other layer was hazelnut buttercream. white buttercream on the outside.

A LOT of people told me it was incredible.

what are the other choices? as much as i love rainbow cookies, i hate fruity fillings in cake

The cookies and cream filling sounds good, this way there is a little bit of chocolate in there if thats what the BP is pushing for. My personal favorite is cannoli filling.

First, I say go with what you think the bride herself would like. If you don't think she would have a preference, then I agree with you that I would go with a vanilla cake with a filling.

Our wedding cake was chocolate with cannolli filling because DH loves chocolate. covered in all white frosting. it was delicious, but really heavy.

unless the bride to be LOVES chocolate cake, i would get the almond or vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling.

I did vanilla with cookies and cream for DD's christening recently. I feel like you have to go somewhat basic for a large party because everyone likes different things.

I hate fruit fillings and so does almost everyone I know.

I'd go plain. Mainly because I know in my circle, there are nut and berry allergies. Including myself. I can almost never have a piece of cake at a party because it's covered in nuts and has strawberries in it. Forget weddings with strawberries already in the champagne glass. I'd be dead at 80% of the weddings I have attended.

Will there be other options for dessert? Like cookies on the table? If so, it makes the plain cake an even better idea

Almond cake with a raspberry ganache filling sounds amazinggggggg, I'd go with that.

And in all honesty, I wouldn't rack your brain on this one, I really don't care what flavor a cake is at an event, if I want cake, I'll just eat it. Also, some people just won't eat the cake regardless. You can never please everyone!

I would definitely do the almond cake. My SIL had this for her wedding and it was INCREDIBLE! I saw people going back for seconds!

My personal favorite with the almond cake is a chocolate filling with a very thin layer of raspberry preserves in between But since raspberry is one of those flavors that some people dont like, maybe just keep it simple with a chocolate buttercream filling?

Vanilla is more universal so I would do a white cake whether it be basic white, vanilla, almond or even lemon. I would not do chocolate...

I would do the filling fancy, it is a bridal shower not a kids bday party so I think you can jazz it up a little.

My favorite is vanilla bean cake with cannoli and raspberry filling. The flavor combo will rock your world lol.

Lemon cake with rasperry filling is awesome too.
You can also do a mousse, a ganache or a chocolate chip cream might be good.

I would avoid cannoli filling. It's one of those things you either like it or hate it, and a lot of pepole I know, myself included, won't touch a cake if it has it in it.
I can't even stand the smell of it.

Same with fruit fillings. I don't mind them ,but they aren't my favorite and a lot of people (on this thread too it seems) don't like it.

I would keep it simple

Vanilla or Almond Cake.
Buttercream
Some simple filling like chocolate or cookies and cream etc

Dark Chocolate and Almond cake are to die for

I would do a white or vanilla cake. Creamy filling - chocolate or vanilla. Sometimes I get a light cream filling with fresh fruit. The cookies and cream sounds good too.
I wouldn't stress over it. Try to get flavors the bride will like or at least doesn't hate. A lot of guests won't even eat the cake.

i would do vanilla or chocolate with a pudding or custard filling... alot of people are weird about the fruit filled cakes, so i would just keep it simple
