non-toy gifts for 1-2 year old
I am looking for non-toy suggestions for a 1-2 year old. I am more interested in essentials (like clothing but that one is easy). what else could i get? sippy cups, spoons... please recommend some necessities that are good for this age group.

Washcloths - they get gross after awhile so you need to change them up.
Spoon/fork sets for bigger kids
Plates
Placemats for when they start eating at the table

PJs, stride right gc, books and art supplies (although those could be considered toys), fork and plate sets, camelbak kid's water bottle, comb and brush set, toddler size towels, dinnerware sets, snowsuit, hat, gloves, bath soap and lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste.

A non-obvious clothing item: plain white tee-shirts or onesies - no one ever buys them for you and it stinks to buy them yourself! Also, a jacket with matching hat, mittens. Thick pj's/blanket sleeper. Maybe a toddler bundle me for the stroller if you think they will get use of it. Bigger towels.

Non essential but not toys
-pottery barn hooded beach towels I love them and use them for bath towels
-personalized pillow case
Pottery barn backpack

I was going to respond with the same thing. Books are a wonderful gift. Also art supplies (markers, crayons, colored pencils, construction paper, model magic, stickers)
Child size cooking items (my kids love to help me cook and bake. I started with them when they were each 2 years old. A cute apron, small rolling pin, cookie cutters)

well dd is turning one and I know something i'm looking to get her for her bday/xmas is towels. I like the hooded ones, but the ones I have for her were basically infant towels. they're kind of small and thin. a big, plush cushy towel is a nice gift.
