If your child never climbed out of their crib....

when did you move them into a toddler bed? I planned on waiting until my DD climbed out to convert the crib into a toddler bed, but just wondering how old is too old to still be in a crib.

We converted DS' bed a few months before he turned 3. We then converted to a full size bed right after he turned 3. He was fine in his crib but DH wanted to convert.

Now of my kids did so on a regular basis. Somehow even after the boys learned - I told them they weren't allowed unless mommy was in the room and they never did unless I was in the room! It was great!

I moved the first child at 2.5yrs b/c #2 was needing the crib.

I moved #2 at 3 years because he was getting big and he was asking for a bed.

#3 is 2.5 years and not moving anytime soon. I keep telling her she has to toilet train first and she is a stubborn one so doubt it is anytime soon.

Never used a toddler bed. Went right to a twin and bought a bed rail.

We moved DS just before he was 3.5; well we just took the front off and put up the converter rail;

We moved in to our new house when dd was 2.5 and we switched her from crib to a twin bed with rails.

We moved my DS into a toddler bed a few weeks after his 3rd birthday.

My DD is almost 3.5 and is still in her crib.

My oldest never climbed out and we switched her around 2.5.
She kept asking for a "princess bed" she switched over great. No issues

We converted her crib to a toddler bed a little before she was 3.5 years old. We saw no reason to change over before then, she was totally content and happy. I think she liked the coziness of her crib.

DD2: 3 years 1 month
DS: will be 3 late next month and haven't thought of it...sometime this winter, I guess.

We moved him into a twin bed at 2.5. He did great and has never gotten out of bed on his own. He calls for us to go get him!

We switched DD at 3, we made it her present and she loved her new bed. I wanted her to be out of the crib for a while before DC#2 needs it so she doesn't get jealous.

DD was a little over 2.5 years old. She would roll over and hit the sides the crib in the middle of the night so I thought she needed the extra space. Converted her crib to a full size bed.

We transferred DD at a little over 3 months, but she asks for her toddler to be turned back into a crib at least once a week. We are keeping it a toddler bed though bc we just potty trained her and need her to be able to get up at night if she needs to.

Otherwise, I would have kept her in there as long as she wanted.

3 years old and we only did it then because I was pregnant with #2.

DS1 was 2y8m when he went from the crib to a twin bed. Simply because he was getting too long for his crib, so the toddler bed didnt make any sense.

DS2 is 2y5m right now and i have no plans to move him out of his crib.

4 for my son

my daughter can climb out (she is 3 1/2) but she only does when I say it is ok for her to come out. Ill wait till she is 4 also. I like that they are old enough to not get into trouble lol

DD1 was moved to a bed at just over 2 because I was due w/DS.

DS will be 4 a the end of the year and still in a crib, I like him contained at night and he seems okay so far (jumped out 1 time, hasn't done it again).

DD2 is in a crib (she will be 2 in October). We will keep her in as long as possible too.

DS didn't so much climb as tossed himself out of his crib at 15 months. He never did that again or climbed out. Occasionally if he was really pissed, he would go to bring his foot up but I'd be watching him on the monitor and stop him so he never did.
We finally switched him at around 3 1/2 to a twin bed because we were having DS #2 and didnt want to buy another crib. He was also getting really bad about not wanting to go into the crib. Previously he had been great at bedtime.
