Re: Juice question
I introduced juice sometime after age 2. DS didn't care for it. He's 3.5 and will choose water over juice every time. I don't even buy juice.
I purposely waited until after age 2 bc I read that kids are less likely to prefer juice, sweets, etc when introduced after age 2.

Re: Juice question
DS #1 didn't have any until he started school at age 2.
DS #2 is addicted because he had it at such a young age. That being said, we water it down quite a bit.

My kids are juice drinkers - probably from 6 months + when I started the sippy cup -I'd put a tiny bit in the cup w/ water ......
They also drink water, and milk
No problems with their teeth, I'm a crazy fanatic about brushing, and I don't see the big deal about them getting some sugar -
They drink orange, apple and white grape - all watered down.
Us too. Our kids have had juice probably since a little over 1. We do half water and half juice.

Re: Juice question
My kids are 2, 5 and 6. They do get some at grandmas house a few times a year but that's it.
I only keep it in my home because my 6 year old is diabetic and sometimes needs it if her blood sugar goes too low. Otherwise we are a water and milk only, family. I only buy it to have for my daughters lows. Otherwise I don't give it to my kids.

Re: Juice question
DS gets juice at daycare at snack time...but at home I only give him milk or water. He likes water, if he didn't then I would probably give juice as an alternative to milk.

Re: Juice question
Per my ped, I started giving DS orange juice fortified with calcium at 1 yr because he did not drink milk.
I let him have other juices when we go to parties, but other than that, he does not get it at home.

Re: Juice question
DS was fine with just water until he was nearly 3 and the daycare we put him in serves only water or juice but everyone was having juice. They only give them watered down juice and I think they have to have a cup of water before they can have the mixed. Now that he's developed a taste for it, he doesn't want water anymore. It's annoying. But, I water it down a lot. I can tell how much he loves it though- on occasions where we are out and he gets a juice box - he chugs it down.

Our older son is 3.5 and we still don't give juice. IMO, there is no need for it, it is just empty sugar with no nutritional value. We allow him to have it at parties, etc, but not on a regular basis- just water and milk. Same goes for out 1.5yo.
Same here. DD is almost 3. She has had juice at parties and stuff but we do not have juice at home. She actually prefers water over juice now.

Re: Juice question
Interesting.. I'm so glad I asked. Here I was thinking I was one of the few who didn't do juice yet. I don't have plans to either. Thanks for all the responses

Pretty much the same thing. Especially when they are sick I may put some more in for the sugar.
It's not so much the sugar as it is the acidity on their enamel

Mine are 2.5 and had a few sips at a party once or twice. They're just not interested and they LOVE their water. They also have a few oz of milk a day.

I never gave juice. My DD is 3 and now she can have it at parties if she wants, but she always refuses it and chooses water.
Ditto. Actually...yesterday was her 3rd bday and I took her out to dinner. The waitress asked if she would like apple juice and she actually said yes. I was shocked b/c she normally only wants water. I asked the waitress to water it down a lot and DD drank it. She knows juice is for special occassions and I guess your bday is one!
