really worried....

To TRY to make a long story short, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's last January. I have been at a steady 50 mcg. of Synthroid since around April...so almost a year. My endo just gave me the go ahead from the thyroid standpoint to start trying. Here's the problem, along with having Hashimoto's come a whole boat load of other issues.

Since working with a chiro/wellness doctor, i've learned that my hormone levels are very off, and through my last saliva test that I took, it shows that I probably didn't ovulate last month or the first time I took that test. My only hope is that the saliva test is a snapshot of a day, and if my cycle is a little "off" it wouldn't show ovulation.

I'm using the clearblue easy digital ovulation monitor this month and my "smiley" should be coming in the next few days. I'm SO SCARED that it won't come...and it will confirm that i'm having a problem ovulating :Chat Icon

I've heard that not ovulating is an easy issue to fix but has anyone else had that problem and what did you have to do to get "O"ing??

I'm trying to remain optimistic...

If you aren't ovulating, call your doctor.

Good luck!

really worried....

Good luck!! I can't give advice on the subject matter because my issue isn't with ovulation (but I have other issues!!) All I can say is- listen to your doctor, don't get discouraged and keep trying, and do your own research. I find that googling my issues and finding other women with the same ones help me learn more than just the doctor's scientific explanations. Sure everyone is different but its nice to see/ hear other people's experiences.

Hope you get that smiley!!!

Good luck!

if you arent ovulating you need to see a reproductive doctor. they will give you meds to ovulate and you can either try on your own with monitoring or you can do IUIs (personal preference - IUI has a higher percentage chance of working but not crazily higher). its not a big deal to get treated for anovulation but thyroid issues can also result in other issues besides anovulation so make sure you have your reproductive doctor (not just an ob/gyn) run a full spectrum of tests on you so that you know exactly what has to be treated. but if its simply anovulation that is easily treatable with clomid/femara oral pills or FSH injections. good luck.

thanks! I completely agree about doing your own reseeach! This will be the first month full month of trying so not seeing that smiley will be a good indicator. My cycles are not "by the book" (if there even is such a thing) so i'm not convinced that the saliva test captured my true ovulation day. We shall see...

Re: really worried....

not yet....it's only the first month we are actually trying. I'm just very nervous because of what one of my doctors said about what the saliva test showed. I'm going to test through for the smiley for the rest of the month. AF is due around the end of the month. I just saw my endo a few weeks ago and those levels are in check which is good!

Re: really worried....

Hashimotos causes many issues of the thyroid which leads to a hormone imbalance. They can go from an extreme high to an extreme low out of no where so I would def see a RE at least for a consult. I scheduled with RS of NY and heard great things about them. Good luck and hope you O!

Re: really worried....

I have Hashimoto's as well. MY obgyn said my cycles are perfect and always on time, so she's not concerned about me not ovulating......did you have a reason to test if ovulation was occurring?
