Witching hour??
My girls are 7.5 weeks (2.5 adjusted if that matters) and lately every night I have a really hard time calming them down between feedings in the late evening. During the day and after the midnight feeding, I have no problem getting them back down in their cribs after feedings/tummy time, etc.. but for some reason at this time, its impossible to get them to sleep. They're yawning, closing their eyes, etc so I know they're tired. They take the paci, spit it out after a few mins and then cry until I put it back in. Ill rock one and get her settled and then the other one starts up... its like clockwork for 3 solid hours until the next feeding. I tried the swing last night but I dont want them getting used to falling asleep for the night in the swing... Is this a phase? Should I try something different? I've added to their bottle to try and fill their bellies up a bit more but no change.
Any suggestions?

Re: Witching hour??
This is the witching hour. Do what ever you need to to get them to settle down. Swing, bouncing, etc. During that period I had my girls sleep on me. I didnt worry about bad habits when they were 2 weeks old. Actually, not till they were 8 months old adj did we start worrying about that kind of thing. You have newborn twins it is ok to cut yourself some slack. Yes, this is a phase, however it could last until they are 12 weeks or 6 months.
Their adjusted age does matter, because they are just past their due date. It was around this time for my girls that their colic and reflux really started to show itself. I did a lot of reading about it at the time and premies have a rougher time with it. It is because their little bellies started working and processing food before they were intended to. It is also said that the witching hour is brought on at that time because of the natural melatonin that is produced by the body in the evenings. It is said that a baby with sensitive belly can not handle the melatonin in their system and this is why they cry.

Re: Witching hour??
My son would have a horrible witching hour. Now he is 11 weeks and it is getting better. My sister had twin girls and I remember her going through their whitching hour. Do whatever you need to do to get through it. Swing, music, etc. Sometimes at night, babies get more hungry and need a bottle sooner. Etc etc etc. Find what works for you.
Once my son starts fussing, I give hm a bath. That seems to soothe him. Than after drying, lotioning, etc, he gets a bottle and goes to sleep soon after. Before we started this night time routine, I can remember wondering how I would ever survive his witching hours. LOL
Good luck. It will all pass soon

Witching hour??
I also have twins but only one of them experienced this witching hour. For us we put chamomile tea in the bottle you can also try gripe water. Another option is to buy a rocking chair which we did. Fisher price...it saved us. Ask your Dr. about the tea....it works

I also would swaddle them and pick them both up and walk/bounce them. I would "stack" them on each other. Ones head on the others chest to do this. Or I would use a moby wrap to hold them both and keep the rocking motion.
