how long did you BF for if you supplemented?

Im going on 7mths of BFing but I also supplement. Im thinking of stopping soon because my supply is dropping. How long did you BF if you were also supplementing. Oh, and I absolutely HATE pumping

7 months is fantastic! I was only able to do it for 4 weeks. I just couldn't produce. It was the hardest decision I ever made and I struggled with it for the longest time, but my DD is a happy and healthy 16 month old today.

Thank you ladies youve made me feel good about my decision. it really is hard. Everyday i tell myself that its the last day but then i keep going. i only produce 2 oz in the am while pumping and its so frustrating. but thanks again for your kind words

You did fantastic! Try to BF until your supply completely diminishes (wean off), that way you dont have to deal with engorging. You should be very proud of yourself. Breastfeeding via nursing or pumping is not easy.

DS is 5 months and I supplement sometimes and feel like my milk supply is dropping as he is hitting another growth spurt and its very difficult and stressful. I'm thinking about weaning but i really didnt want to this early as well. I know how you feel. Looking from the outside, i would say stop if it is becoming a source a stress for you. Then its probably less enjoyable for you and LO.

7 months is awesome! Around 5 months my supply took a big hit and I stopped pumping. I had such guilt over it at first but once I stopped I was so happy to have more time with DS and I got over it. I still nurse him before bedtime but that's it (he's almost 7 months too).

i BF and supplemented until 9m. at that point she was taking in mostly formula and table foods and my supply (which was never great) dipped reallly low. so low that i was able to just stop BF with no negative side effects. i pumped until 6m also but i was getting so little that i stopped and only BF or FF. 7m is great!! at that point i would just go by the baby. for me, she was sooo disinterested in nursing at 9m that stopping was really no different for her.

Thanks again ladies...I never thought this would be such a tough decision for me. I love the skin to skin contact and the fact that Im giving him all of my nutrients and the thought of not doing that anymore makes me sad but you are all right, Ive given him so much by lasting this long and I appreciate all your kind words. Again, I never thought this would be so difficult.
