I'm sure this has been shared.. parenting lasts..
Too tired to cut paste from Huffington post
Linky
I'm tired as I've spent the last hour creating and hot gluing paper tissue wings to 30 or so bead made bees..
Still had time to check on AJ and didn't start until AFTER she was tucked in.

This made me cry as just 10 minutes ago, DS woke up calling for his daddy. Since I was getting up anyway, I said, "I'll get him and bring him in." (in the mornings, while I shower and start to get ready, we usually bring DS in bed and he'll watch some tv snuggled next to his daddy.)
So, I went in to get him and he yelled at me "No, I call daddy. You get out!!" and he pushed me away. That kid breaks my heart.
So, I was already a little teary, and that just pushed me over the edge.

Read this last night and bawled for a good 15 mins
Its SO true and i know in the day to day rushing that goes on we all tend to forget it to it happens and happens so fast...like my first grader doesn't want to hold my hand walking to school anymore and it makes my heart ache - didn't I just take her home from the hospital?

Re: I'm sure this has been shared.. parenting lasts..
Reminds me of a conversation with my pediatrician last Sept. DS was 4 months old and very chunky - and I was going back to work in 6 days. Doc asks if he's sleeping through the night, and I say "no, you never told me not to nurse him at night yet....so I'm still doing it". To which doc says, "he's more than big enough to STTN, so don't feed him tonight. Give it a few days and he'll be STTN by the time you go back to work next week".
I exploded crying on the spot and was just sobbing "you mean the 2am togetherness when it's just me and him and the rest of the world is silent -is over?"
Doc thought I was a bit crazy.
I decided to eliminate the night time feedings the next day instead of that same night, and I totally savored that final night. I miss it all the time, but glad I appreciated it while I had it.
