Sorta Parenting Related - I'm sure many know sites where I can do this
I took a few videos of the twins with my digital camera, and I want to upload them to a site, so I can share them via a link.
The files are pretty big - 3-4 GB each (AVI format)
My question is two-fold
1. Is there a site where I can convert an AVI file to something smaller
2. Is there a site, where I can upload the videos, and that offers "private" options - in other words, not everyone can see the videos? I realize it's the internet, so it's hard to prevent, but if there's a good site with decent security, that would be great

I use One True Media for the security reasons.
Unless I give you the link you can't see it from my share page. And I decide which videos to share and which I want to keep private.
I'm not sure about the AVI issue, but I believe they convert.

Don, you can upload to privacy on youtube. It's the only way I upload Victoria's videos - you can add 25 people that can view the video - totally up to you who gets to see it. I'll call you tonight and walk you through, will you be home at a decent time?

BUT, if I recall on YouTube - there is a file size requirement - like you can't convert files over a certain size.
The files are at least 3-4 GB a piece.

Thanks - and leighla as well for the suggestion - I signed up for the unlimited uploads so I can get unlimited file sizes - I've used them before, so I know they are good.
Donna, I checked into Youtube, they have size requirements.

I uploaded a 400MB file to YouTube once. But 3-4GB is a big file, you can try and see. A file that big would probably take at least a few hours to upload.
If you want to convert it, you should probably get a program to do it.
TMPG Express is really good at this (costs money). Or there is a free program called "SUPER" that can convert these types of files. But the Super interface is a little more difficult to navigate. Might be worth a try.

Good!
I really like them and at the end of year one I made a DVD of first year highlights and the quality was excellent and so easy to make since everything was already there.
