is it possible not to feel braxton hicks?
I went to the doc yesterday and as he was examining me and measuring my belly, he mentioned that he could feel BH contractions, he said he could tell b/c my stomach was hard... I haven't really been feeling anything so I was wondering if its normal to have BH and not feel it?

I don't feel them - just know they are happening when I feel my belly and it is hard all around. For a while I thought it was the baby, but then realize she can't possibly be ALL around my belly. I don't think they are supposed to be all that painful.

Re: is it possible not to feel braxton hicks?
I'd say it's normal. I really didn't feel them with DD or at least I wasn't sure what I was feeling. I remember occasionally wondering if it was the baby moving around in there or BH. I actually went for a routine nonstress test at 34 weeks and they saw that I was continually contracting. That combined with my cervix shortening landed me on bed rest until 38 weeks when they considered me safe to deliver. I had no idea I was having contractions like that.

Very normal. As your pg progresses further you might (or might not) start to feel them definitively.

with my first, I never once felt BH but I knew by NST that I was having them from time to time.

I think I am the same way. The only thing that confuses me, is that my belly will be hard for a while and then go soft again. I'm 34 wks today. I honestly have no clue. I will ask my Dr at my next appt. I feel bad for my friend, she is 31 wks and has been having painful braxton hicks for the last few weeks. I never knew they could hurt you.

I didn't really feel them with my first pregnancy. Now I feel them all the time! But I think because I'm so much bigger and any exertion brings them on.
