Cloth diaper question

So I've read a lot of threads, I've gone on youtube for an explanation of all the different types of diapers but I still have no clue where to start. I would like to register for as much as I can and then just buy what I can't register for. What do you recommend to get started and are there any brands you would recommend at babies r us?

Re: Cloth diaper question

I used prefolds with a Snappi and Thirsties covers until DS started getting hard to diaper around 7 months. Then I switched to pocket diapers(I like Green Bees brand). I am still using those at 14 months for DS. I use Quilter's Nappies brand wipes.

Re: Cloth diaper question

I liked green mountain prefolds, snappis and thirsties covers for a new born. I used 2 dozen orange edged diapers and three xs covers. If your LO is measuring large you may want to just go with the yellow edged ones and fold them down.

Now I use a mix of prefolds, pockets and fitteds. Personally if I had to do it again I'd skip the fitteds. I generally use the prefolds around the house and pockets when we're out and at night. I like fuzzibunz perfect fit and bgs for at night.

The fuzzibunz mediums fit the longest, I think 15-25ish lbs? I'd probably register for those and then 2 to 3 bgs for at night. Night time diapers didn't matter much to me in newborn stage since I had to change with every feeding. 20 fuzzibunz would be a good amount to register for. Or do a dozen smalls and a dozen mediums. You can always fill in with less expensive ones if you don't get them. Keep in mind you can sell them and recoup a decent amount of money too. Hth!

Re: Cloth diaper question

I dont think Babies R Us carries any in store - its only online.

I love regular prefolds with a cover - i love the flip covers but for a newborn i preferred the thirties covers.

I also have some BumGenius AIO for baby sitters - its alot easier since they are just like disposables.

From what I've seen, they carry g diapers in the store. Are these any good? The other ones I would have to add to my registry online.
Why don't you use the AIO for yourself? Are the prefolds with the cover easier?

Re: Cloth diaper question

I have only heard bad things about g diapers

I would register for bum genuis - probably 6-8 of those - those are my go to night diaper - they come with an infant insert and a regular insert - i just use both for night time

I would not register for prefolds at babiesrus- they are usally gerber

there are plent of online sites with free shipping. i get a lot from cotton babies and nikkis diapers -alos amazon has bum genuis

to start what i would get is 2-3 snappis - they are y shaped clips that make prefiolds easy. Then i would get some covers. i would get about 6- you can sized covers - i use thirsties or bummis. But flip ones work well and are one size but they are snaps - I have been cloth diapering for almost 3 years and my covers are still in good shape and are shared by my twins now

also i would get 24 infant prefolds - i like the indian prefolds - a little easier to get going - they will need to washed and dried 3 times before using

and if you don't like cloth diapering - they make great spit up rags, burp clothes or cleaning rags

then get 2 large wet bags- and a large kitchen garbage can with lid (get at home depot or wherever)

then all the dirty diapers go in the pail and when you put in washing machine the bags go in with them

they i would get a small wet dry bag for your diaper bag for ont the go changes

i also do wipes and use the prince lionhart wipe warmerr- they have that at babies r us.

if you have any questions feel free to fm and if you aren't far from huntington and want to try something out let me know
