Another cloth diaper question...storage of inserts...
When you change the cloth diaper and say they have a poopy diaper...what do you normally do with the poopy insert? Do you have a bag to store them in near the changing table? How many do you put in there before washing them all? Im sure the bag smells with the poopy inserts--what do you do for that....also what do you do when your out and about, what do you do with the pee or poppy cloth inserts then?
Im trying to understand how and the process of chaging the diaper..im used to just charging a diposable diaper and throwing it in the diaper champ....
ETA: When changing the diaper, do you just change the insert, put another insert in and put the diaper back on or just throw the whole diaper into the laundry bag and use a new cloth diaper?

Re: Another cloth diaper question...storage of inserts...
I have a wet bag for when we are out an about, I like the planet wise ones. I just put the poopy diaper in there until I get home to rinse it in the toilet. As far as at home, I have a diaper pail with a liner (washable--i have a wahmies one) in it, when my DS was EBF I just dropped it in there and when he started solids I rinsed off the poop in the toilet and then put the diaper in the pail. I wash diapers every 2-3 days regardless of how many poopy diapers he has. I keep my diaper pail on the landing to my basement so I can just open the door and toss it in, some people keep it in their bathroom or laundry room.

Re: Another cloth diaper question...storage of inserts...
I use the AIOs so I don't have insert advice.
When DD was on BM only I just threw the poopy diaper in the diaper bin next to the changing table and then dumped the diaper bin in the washing machine. BM poop is water soluble so it just disappears like magic!
DD is FF now and I just got a diaper sprayer. I have a diaper pail in the downstairs bathroom ( bathroom not really used frequently...hardly ever by company) next to the toilet with the sprayer. After I spray it clean i throw it right in the pail and on diaper day I dump it right into the machine.
BM poop didn't smell so I just did the diapers when I saw I needed to (I have a pretty good sized supply so I only need to wash like 1x/week). B/c of the Formula poop I wash maybe 2-3x/week b/c of smell and staining.

I will just the cover again if it isn't soiled or wet--if it is just wet I will wipe it out and let it dry and use it again later in the day. I have flip covers I do this a lot with, you can definitely use them more than once. But if I am using a pocket diaper then the whole diaper needs to be washed each time.

Ok, im using the Fuzzi Bunz onesize and Bumgenious 4.0 one size and im pretty sure those are both pocket diapers, so how many do you think i will need on hand for a days worth like, 12 one size pocket diapers?

i would have about 24 - enough for two days- they recomend changing newborns every 2 hours - that is why i started with prefolds and that went to all in ones

I started with about 2 days worth and have since added a bit in case my laundry takes a bit longer or I dry them outside. I will say that I did use disposables in the very beginning as both my boys were born under 6 lbs and there was no way they would have fit into a one size diaper. One size diapers usually don't fit well until the 8-10lb range, but every kid is different.
